comments would be appreciated, if you have the time.
1. open up PS and start with this base.

2. meh, it's too blurry, for me, so let's go to FILTER >> SHARPEN
>> SHARPEN. Now we can see that beautiful smile *wink*

3. but that smile doesn't shine! and it looks too dark. let's LAYER
>> DUPLICATE and change the blend mode to SCREEN. now that looks
brighter, and better. Isn't she beautiful?

4. WOAH, boooring! let's spice it up..make sure it's on LAYER 1 COPY,
and then you can spice it up by going to IMAGE >> ADJUSTMENTS
>> VARIATIONS. now if you don't have it on original, put it on
original. Click MORE YELLOW twice and then MORE CYAN once, then MORE
RED once. Then click OK.

5. Next apply this texture i made myself:

onto the current blend, and make the blend mode SCREEN. Well look how nice Mischa looks now. *wink*

6. Now select over the whole thing, and EDIT >> COPY MERGED and
then paste it over the screened layer. Then, change the blend mode to
HARD LIGHT.

7. next, make rectangular boxes around the icon. Each time, make sure each box is set to SCREEN for the blend mode.

8. Now, time for some nice 'ol text. let's see...hmm...what should we
write? let's just make some small text, so write something small on the
bottom bar..I used georgia at size 3, and i wrote, "they will see us
waving from such great heights" because that's the song i'm listening
to, hah.

9. Next, sharpen the mini-text by going to FILTER >> SHARPEN
>> SHARPEN. I got this trick from evilgiraffe, one of my favorite
icon makers. There will be a box coming up about rasterizing, and just
click ok. then go to LAYER >> FLATTEN IMAGE, and save it! The end!

i hope you enjoyed my first icon tutorial...and i just started making
icons last night at 12:00 AM, so hah, i'm sorry if this icon is
horrible.
