My first icon tutorial.

We will go from this base Image hosted by Photobucket.com to this icon Image hosted by Photobucket.com

It is my first tutorial... So I hope it isn't too bad. *smiles* Made with Photoshop 7.

First, I take the picture of Willow here

I crop it and resize it following my own need.

Then, to have a better contrast, I do Image - Adjustement - Auto contrast

I duplicate the base twice.

On the first layer, I make a gaussian blur of 2 and set it to soft light 100%.

On the top layer, I set it to overlay, 100%.

I created a new layer, and filled it with this gradient ( #FF9498 to #C10103 )

And set it to color, 50%.

I created a new layer, filled it with #DAD0B6 and set it to color, 25%. because I thought it was too flashy.

Then I created another new layout, used this gradient ( #9C4139 to transparent )

And set it to multiply, 75%.

Time to add the text. All in black ( #000000 )

First, I wrote "I NEED POWER" in Times New Roman, 12 pts, bold, antialias = strong.

Then I added some random text up and down it, not meant to be readable, just for the look. All in the same font, but normal, 3 pts, crisp antialias.

Then I add the final touch, a simple black border 1 pts in a new layer on top of them all.

And we are done. This is what the layers should look like.

Comments would be appreciated. :) Hope you enjoyed.
