please help..

i know this is going to sound stupid, but since i'm just getting started i feel the need to ask...

how do you upload your new icons to your journal so you can use them? do you have to save them to a place like "photobucket" or can u just upload them directly to livejournal? I have one that i made and I would like to show everyone but i cant figure out how to upload it..thanks.
