Taped Photo Icon Tutorial
Learn how to make this super simple icon:

This was made in Paint Shop Pro 7 but I think it could be transferrable to other programs.
I started with this picture of Sawyer from lost-media.com.
I cropped and resized the picture to around 90x60, added a dark blue (#000040) exclusion layer and added a 2 pixel border in a light yellow color (#FFF1C2).
This brings us to this:

I minimized that picture and opened a NEW 98x98 image in my favorite khaki color (#D3C6A6).
I added this crumpled paper brush I got from
teh_indy.

I made the brush a dark brown (#544132) and clicked a couple times until it was as dark as I wanted:

I then went back to the picture of Sawyer. I copied (Ctrl-C) and pasted it as a new layer on top of the paper background (Ctrl-L). I then rotated the picture 23 degrees to the right and moved it up to the corner...

I then used this brush in a light grey (#DDDDDD) I believe I got this brush from
teh_indy as well?

I added a new raster layer and added the tape brush near the bottom corner of the picture. I fiddled with the rotation until it was just right. Next I added a second layer for the other piece of tape and rotated it until it was good as well. I decreased the opacity (80%) on each of those layers so that it was some-what transparent.

Next I added the text...
font: Another Typewriter
size: 20
color: #5C493A
And then finally I added a 1 pixel border in the same color as the text (#5C493A) to get my final result:

This is my first official tutorial so I hope you like it!
