Hello all,
my name is Maria and I'm new nere. I'll jump right in with a question :)
I got a TV-PC converter thing for Christmas for making screencaps, and I installed it fine and everything, but I don't think I'm hooking up the wires right.

Ok there's a diagram here:
http://www.geocities.com/mailer_daemon213/index.htm

The thing that you plug into my computer laptop, which is at the bottom, has a USB port which seemed to install fine. the other end has the yellow, white/red audio in, and the other thing with 2 arrows which I assumed to be the S-Video thing that I didn't have to worry about. The next piece (which didn't come with it so it may not even be right) just has a red, white, and yellow thing on both ends. My TV (with a built in VCR) has a yellow video in and a white audio in hole thingy. All the wires fit and stuff like shown, but my TV doesn't have a red hole :( and the red thing doesn't fit in any non-colored hole. So that might be the problem.
Also, since my tv-pc converter is for a laptop you can only capture stuff from videotapes. That's fine, I tried doing it after turning on my VCR, but maybe since my VCR is built into my TV it can't tell the difference between when the tape is playing or not?
^^ I tried to put the TV on that "line" channel, and it seemed like it would work, because the "line" channel had lines on it or something when I plugged in the tv-pc converter thing. Then I hit play on my VCR but it still wouldn't capture anything.
I feel like I'm just having a mind blank and missing some completely basic, easy thing that is obvious to everyone else. So if you know what it is, go ahead, laugh at me, but please tell me what I'm doing wrong/forgetting/missing so I can fix it and get it to work :)

Anybody who read that and can help, thanks soo much :)
