Mod Informational Post: The Last One Today!

Hello gang!

Sorry to do this on top of spamming you all silly, but you can't backdate posts into communities and I have a variety of announcements for y'all today, so bear with me.

First: icon_tutorial has vaulted well beyond the 5000 member mark. Wow! Neat. :) Thanks to each and every one of you for making this community the open and useful place it is.

Second: I got backed up on the affiliations, but everyone who requested affiliation with a relevant journal or community has now been added.

Third: The resource posts have been updated, so there should be some more useful font/brush/tutorial sites for everyone now. Make sure to take a look! They're in the userinfo and in the memories under Mod Posts and Resources.

Fourth: The FAQ post has been updated to reflect a number of questions that have popped up in this community repeatedly in the last month, particularly on the subject of gradients. Give it a look if you're at all unfamiliar with any of the basics; you'd be amazed how much information is in that one post, if I do say so myself! (Also if you are a PSP or GIMP user, let me know if I inadvertently put misinformation in; I do the best I can but I personally am PS7 all the way.)

Fifth: icon_tutorial is well beyond due for a new layout, and grass_stained and I have agreed that it's time for an upgrade, because there's only so much I can do with free styles. I'll be redoing the layout sometime in the next few weeks (my schedule's a bit iffy, because my Master's Thesis (eeeeep!) is now due in under a month), and donating $5 to the community myself to give it 2 months' paid time. The new layout will stay so long as icon_tutorial remains a paid account, so if you'd like to see the community improve and can spare a few bucks, buy us some paid time! We'll be making a list of patrons and sticking it in the userinfo somewhere. :)

Sixth: In addition to the community rules about posting, there is now a post of posting guidelines. These are things that won't get your post deleted or get you in trouble if you do them, but are things that aggravate the hell out of me and, often, others, and that would make the community a lot easier to use and maintain if everyone followed them.

That's really all, this time. And having brought the community as up-to-date as I can, I have accomplished my thesis procrastination goal for the day. Go, me. ;)

Cheers,

*E
