This icon was made in PS7. Just.. to let'cha know.
Alrighty. :D First, get your picture. :D Crop it, cut it, resize it, edit it, whatever. Just get it as 100 x 100.
^ I'm using this picture of Ayumi Hamasaki from a screencap I took of her Walking Proud video. (Really good video, you should watch it. :DD)
^ Duplicate the base image and set it to Overlay at 100%. Sharpen it. You may have to sharpen it twice based on the image you're using. I'm not really a fan of the overly sharpened a million times look, though. >___>
^ Okie, now the super duper fun part. :D TEXTURES. ... um, yeah. Told'ya I'm a dork. I used one of my textures at set it to soft light at 100%. PUT IT BETWEEN YOUR BASE AND THE OVERLAY LAYER. Otherwise it comes out a little too orange for my liking.
^ This is what I got after I put the texture in.
^ Yay, more fun textures. X3 .. anyway. I used another one of mine and set it to screen at 100%. Put it above the orange texture and below the overlay layer.
^ Result of adding the light texture.
^ Still more textures. This one is from anica.fan-arts.net. I erased a few areas of it and set it to screen at 100%. It should be above the light texture in the previous step and the overlay layer.
(*note: if you're using the same textures I used in this tutorial, erase all the white on the bottom and on the left.)
^ Result of the blue texture.
^ Do some of your own tweaking, add text, and FWA! You've got a very nice colored icon. XD If you need help with text, just comment saying so and I'll add in the bit for using text.
('exist' is Trebuchet MS, size 18. Bold I think. The small text that says 'reason to exist' is bolded Times New Roman size 3.)
