Full tutorial: Tennis, anyone?
Mmkay...I'm new so I hope I'm doing everything right! I've read all the FAQ's and Rules and stuffs, so I should be okay. It's also my first icon tutorial, so I guess I'm just new on all accounts! Don't hurt me! Lol. 0.o
Hope this is in some way helpful!
Finished product:
(tutorial written for Photshop CS; however, it should translate pretty easily into PSP.)
Hooray for Andy Roddick! *stroke*
Okay, backing off, you don't have to get out security, lol. Just makin' an icon here, officers.
First layer:

+ This is the way I start out making most of my icons: Image>Adjustments>Auto Color - Auto Levels - Auto Contrast. If the icon is still to dark/light, go to Image>Adjustments>Brightness/Contrast and mess about with it.
+ Once the base is the way you want it, duplicate it twice.
Second Layer:

+ Image>Adjstments>Desaturate
+ Set to screen:

Third Layer

+ Image>Adjstments>Desaturate
+ Set to Soft Light:

Fourth Layer:

+ Create a new layer, and go ahead and add your border. I've chosen a brush from
saava's set, in #8D9990. (I'm on a Mac, so you might have to fool around with yours to get it right.
+ Change blend mode however you like; mine is set at normal:
Fifth & Sixth Layers:

+ Download this image, then copy and paste it into your icon. Make sure it's on a new layer. Then duplicate it.
+ Set the first one to Hard Light:

+ Set the second to Multiply:

~ Ew, yucky brown. It needs a little sumthin'.
Seventh Layer:

+ I used this gradient from
crumblingwalls, which can be found here. Or, you can just download mine. ^^
+ Set to Color:

+ Ick. Too much green. Move this layer between layers 5 and 6:

Text Layer:
Oooh, purdy! We're nearly done. Text is up to you; mine is Arial Black (font size will vary, so just mess with it.) in #B1A595, with the anti-aliasing set to smooth. Again, tweak it until you get it to a point where you like it.
Result:
~ And you're done! Easy as pie. Congratulations!

If you have questions, please don't hesitate to ask! And let me know if anything is wrong or unclear.
