'Save For Web' Failure in Photoshop, Take 2
I've posted about this before, but since then I've seen others with similar problems and I'm about at the end of my rope.
I can't "save for web" anymore in Photoshop 7, and that's a big problem for an icon-maker! The error I get is "could not complete the operation because an assertion has failed."
When this first started happening a couple of months ago -- it came on in the middle of one January day, inexplicably -- I uninstalled and reinstalled Photoshop an insane number of times. This morning I wiped everything even remotely Adobe from my computer. Now I'm using a new, freshly installed copy (yes, a legally purchased one), and I still get the error. I'm going mad here. Does anyone know either (1) what could be causing it, (2) if it's actually a PS error, or instead a Windows one, and (3) any resources for how to fix it? Usually I'm a good Googler but I'm coming up empty a lot on this one.
Edited to Add: I found the answer on Adobe's website (not always the easiest to navigate). Unfortunately, it doesn't seem to work on version 7 of Photoshop. Nonetheless, I know many of you use PS CS, so here's the solution if you do: clicky.
Neither Google nor Adobe seem to yield any answers for version 7. I deleted all my settings and preferences in my Application Data anyway, but to no avail. Everything in PS7 seemed to reset but the damn "save for web" function still gives the same error.
