PSP7 - Curves problem?

Hello!  I've been following a few tutorials (made for PSP) and every time I set the curve settings it ends up being very light.  And they never end up looking how the tutorials intended!  Can someone help me with this??  I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong!  Thanks everyone!  :)
