Gif transition help?

Hey everyone!
I need a little help, I know to make gifs and everything, but I just can't get the fading this gif has on the side, i've tried the 'tween' tool but I get nothing similar. Could anyone help me out? I'm using photoshop CS5 or CS3 :)
