Crystal clear .gifs
Hi, I was wondering if anyone knew how to optimize gif clarity for 500kb gifs on tumblr? I recently made one the other day and compared it to an identical one made by an experienced gif maker, and it pales in quality! I use Photoshop CS4. My gif and theirs are under the cut.
This is my version of the gif:
and this was the gif made by the expert:
As you can see they're very different in terms of quality: The bottom gif has more frames, has a larger width and has more colors. Mine is also grainier, and the dithering is more obvious than the bottom.
Having gone through most of the FAQs it's clear I can use curves, color balance and saturation for the brighter colors, but what I don't get is the sharp quality of the bottom gif. I know this is partly due to using a HD version of the video and sharpen filter on each layer, but I still haven't managed to get it to be that clear. Does anyone else know possible tips or tricks that I might make use of?
