Screen Capping programs?

Hi, 

I was wondering if anyone could give me some recommendations for a Screen Capping program. I've been using the Print Screen button on my keyboard up to now then cropping them in GIMP, so I really don't have any idea about them :)

Are there any good programs that are free and can be downloaded from the internet?
