[Mod Post] September moderation, the LJ Spotlight, and Us

We have been notified that LJ plans to put this community in the Spotlight in mid-September.
sidhex3 and I discussed it and decided to go for it.
However, the only way a 30,000 member community can handle even *more* attention is with heavy moderation. We will be putting the community on moderated posting only starting sometime between September 12 and 18, and leaving it that way possibly as late as mid-November, depending on the kind of traffic we see.
This means that the moderators will pick and choose representative posts, if the volume is overwhelming, and that if 15 people ask the same question in 24 hours, you might get the answer from a post that's not yours. Rule-breaking posts will obviously be rejected outright. We will do our best to leave explanations for all rejections, but the queue only allows 50 posts to be held for moderation at a time and we will not want to deluge anyone's friend pages, ours included, with 30-approval-post-dumps.
It's like if there's construction on the interstate, closing four lanes: we'll all get there eventually, but expect delays.
We will do our best to keep you informed throughout September and beyond, but we ask your patience. If you've got questions, feel free to ask them here and we'll do the best we can with answers.
