text effect ?

Hey guys, i was wonderuing if anybody had a nice walkthrough on how to achieve a text effect like this

it looks kinda like one of those leapord whatever mac operating system wallpapers, so something like that would be nice too
(or a texture like that ?)

(i'm using photoshop and illustrator)
