Question -- rotating images with text.

I'm working on an icon (using PSP7) and I want to put some text vertically along the right edge. I rotated my image 90 degrees to the right, typed in my text (georgia font) and rotated the image back to the original position. All very well, but rotating mate the text turn blurry, enough to make the small font size nearly unreadable. I tried Effects->sharpen, but that just made it pixilated and ugly. Any hints on how to get around this problem?
