1. Start with the cropping: I cropped mine with a little space beside it. The negative space makes it easier to work with. There are tons of ways to fill that space, but I just duplicated my base and set it beside. Result:

2. Now I add this texture by
cielo_gris . I desaturated it and set it on screen at 100 %. Just want to add that in YOUR icon, you're free to put it in any place you would want to. Yes, this is for pure decoration. Mine looks like this:

3. Just to add a bit of brightness at the side, add this texture by (not sure who, it's really modified :x sorry!) Set it on screen at 20%. It's supposed to brighten up a little bit on the side.

4. To add a little bit more texture on the background, add this texture by (ugh, modified a lot, but I'm pretty sure it's by
noisettee?) Right now, I'm trying to make it the right kind of blue.

5. Get this texture by
cookiestome, which I inverted and smudged a bit according to how I want it to look like.

(yes it looks weird, it will get better, hopefully!)
6. Okay now go to Layer>New adjustment layer>gradient map. Go to the bar and place in 99ceff and 000000. Set that layer to Normal at 43% (You may wanna adjust this accdg. to your image). it should look like this:

7. Layer>New adjustment layer>curves. Now don't do anything to it, just click ok. Then you set it on Softlight at 100%. Now it adds a little more contrast.

8. Layer>New adjustment layer>Color balance. I brought the yellows only a bit like so, just to make it slightly green.

9. Layer>New adjustment layer>Hue/Saturation, Master > Put in Saturation +17 to make some of the colors pop. :)

10. Layer>New adjustment layer>Selective coloring
Reds
Yellow: -37
Yellows:
Yellow: +100
Neutrals:
Yellows: +10
This is just to lessen the red and adding more yellow to the icon.
11. Layer>New adjustment layer>Selective coloring. Bascially, I tried to make the image brighter while adding a bit more blue. I tried to remove any source of red on my icon, and upped a little bit of the yellow. Settings are here

12. Layer>New adjustment layer>Curves The image itself is really bright, now we have to darken it a lot.

**If you are confused with the whole coloring here, comment if you need the psd/help! :)
13. Now take this texture by
_sinelinea and set it anywhere on your icon. I placed mine on the bottom. Then I placed another texture from
_sinelinea as well. I placed it beside the first one. It's supposed to be a sort of border. Mine looks like this:

14. Add this texture by me(basically a failed icon blurred really well) on softlight at 20%. It's suppose to add more contrast to the icon
15. Now take this texture by
noisettee and place it where you want. I rotated mine to the side and smudged some of the black writing away.

16. Okay, time to brighten the blues up(get it?), so Layer>New fill layer>Solid color. Place in 00aeff on softlight at 100%, depending how bright you want it. It makes the blue more bearable and slightly brighter. I duplicated mine 3 times.

17. Add this texture by orchidee and set it on softlight at 100% this is supposed to make it brighter while adding a bit of green in the icon.

18. Now add this texture by (unknown, if you know, comment please! :D) on Screen at 30%

Okay these last few steps are really optional to be honest. It just adds more contrast.
19. Layer>New adjustment layer>Hue/Saturation
Master
Saturation: +17

20. Layer>New adjustment layer>Color balance
Midtones: 0, -42, -71
Shadows: 0, -27, -43

21. Okay last step, duplicate your base and drag it to the top, set it on softlight at 100%

* I added a brightness/contrast layer, this should depend on your image.
** Please do not copy my icon the EXACT SAME WAY! Please also note that this coloring will NOT work on every damn image, so try to adjust it a little. :)
