Lean how to make an icon like this -

from this -
I used Adobe Photoshop 7.0 for this icon.
First, start with your base picture. Mine of course was the larger one. I duplicated it twice, and set the middle layer to multiply, and the top layer to screen. Merge the layers.
Now comes the gradients. I used a LOT of different gradients, mostly from
crumblingwalls. Now since each picture is different, you need to find your right gradient. I took a bluish one and set it to soft light. Then, I took a redish on and set it to screen. A grey one was set to screen, and then a pickish orange was set to softlight. Again, you'll need to find this out for yourself.
Then, I duplicated the bottom layer, desaturated it, and brought it to the top layer and set it to soft light. I then duplicated that layer and applied a slight gaussian blur (.8). DO NOT MERGE YOUR LAYERS YET.
You should have something similiar to this -
.
Now you'll need to find 2 more pictures. I chose
and
.
There are two ways you can do this. First, you can do the exact same thing you did to the first picture to each of these pictures. Or, you can just replace the layers containing the first pictures with the other pictures. You'll have to make sure they're set to the right settings and opacity.
Now you have three pictures -
,
, and
.
I'll consider you did the first since it was simplist. Now, copy your second picture and paste it in your top layer. Position it where you'd like, and decide which part of the picture you'd like to show. I placed
all the way to the right of the picture.

Now, create a new layer, and with your 1 px pencil, draw a strait line down the center where you'd like the picture to cut off. I applied the tiniest guassian blur to my line, but you don't have to.

Go back to the layer with the 2nd picture and with your block eraser, erase everything in the picture except for what is in between the lines.
Confused yet? It should be pretty self explanitory.

Now, do the same thing with the next picture. You'll have to add a new layer with another line, and then erase parts of your picture which overlap. This is what you should have.

Now comes the easy part. TEXT. For the "MORE THAN JUST" text, I used AD4568 on Times new Roman, at size 7. "S M I L E S" is the same color and font, only at size 10. For the text to stand out more I duplicated it and set it to soft light.

Now you can finish here. I played around with it. I duplicated a layer and sharpened it, then lowered the opacity to 11. And here's the finished product.

Hope you all enjoyed!
