Program question

I've looked through several memories and so far have had no luck finding any tutorials for Adobe PhotoDeluxe. I've made icons and tried to use the tutorials for other versions of Photoshop, but they have only been helpful to a point, as certain objects (i.e. "Color Burn, Screen") do not exist in my program. My main problem is with text-making it stand out and making it look proper as well. If anyone could offer an assistance, I would be very grateful.
