Hello all! This is my first post in Icon_tutorial, i've been hooked on this community for about a week now and decided it was time to join! I've a nice little tutorial for you. It's the first tutorial i've posted online, so if there's anything i need to smooth out, let me know! It's extremely easy...I used Photoshop Elements 3.0, but it should be pretty easy to translate

Today we're going from to

(note that I did this with a black and white picture, i'm not sure how it'll turn out on a coloured picture)

Alrighty, here goes!

1. I found this picture: the lovely Audrey Hepburn on google. I cropped and resized to 100x100

2. Next I made a new layer (guess what? It's an exclusion layer...*expected*) anyways, I filled it with a dark blue colour-i used #0F2D6D-and set it to exclusion.

3. I made a new layer and filled it with this gradient: , quite simple, and set it to colour:

4. You're almost done (i know, it's pretty short) I merged all of the layers, then selected all (ctrl-A) and went to edit-Stroke (Outline) Selection. I made it 1 px and used the eyedropper to chose a light blue in the middle of the image. This gives it a simple border that doesn't stand out too much, but still makes it look a bit more finished.

5. Now i added the text. In Allegro, 18 pt, I wrote "Audrey" and then, underneath it, i wrote "not just a pretty face" in Claudia, 5 pt. Now merge the layers and you're finished!

Hope it helped! Let me know if you didn't understand anything!
