Tutorial: PSP9
PSP9 tutorial for a Gargoyles icon. Mostly made because I often have trouble making tutorials look good for cartoon characters. If something here isn't working, please let me know.

1. I started with this cap that I took.

2. Background Layer:
I cropped it and went to Adjust > Brightness & Contrast > Brightness/Contrast. I left the contrast alone, but brightened it until I liked how it looked. (Gargoyles is such a *dark* cartoon.)

3. Second Layer

I used this image by not-me. (It isn't mine, but I have no idea who made it. It was someone who said credit was nice but not necessary....) I set it to Hard Light at 100%.

4. Third and Fourth Layers
I copied the Background Layer and brought it up above the Second Layer. I desaturated it until it reached a shade I liked. I duplicated this layer.

I set the Third Layer to Overlay at 100%. I set the Fourth Layer to Saturation (Legacy) at 51%. This is what we have now.

5. Fifth Layer
I made a new layer and filled it with the colour #BBD5CE. I set it to Colour (Legacy) at 51%.

6. Sixth Layer
Make a duplicate of the original Background Layer. Drag it up to the top. Set its blend mode to Normal at 21%.

7. Seventh Layer
I made a new layer. I used this brush by
icons_with_love. The colour was #BBD5CE. Blend mode was Overlay at 100%.

Here's what we have now:

8. Eighth Layer
I made a new layer. I used this border brush also by
icons_with_love. The colour was #BBD5CE. Blend mode was Exclusion at 100%.

Here's what we have now:

9. Ninth and Tenth Layers
Time for text! Make two new layers, Text 1 and Text 2.
Using this tutorial, I outlined my text. I used #BBD5CE for my outline and #FFFFFF for the text. I wrote "FRIEND" with Stickons Two at size eight.

As per that tutorial's directions, I pasted (with ctrl-e) the text onto Text 1 (the ninth layer). I set Text 1's blend mode to Multiply at 100%.

I pasted (with ctrl-e) the same text onto Text 2 (the tenth layer). I put this text slightly lower and to the right of the text in the Text 1 layer. I set the blend mode to Normal at 87%.
Now we have the finished product!
