A small fish in a big, muddy pond searching to find the way.
I'm a 51 year old American man, a native of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania currently living in New England. I've always considered myself a spiritual person, and I've spent most of my life thus far as a seeker, searching to find what that means.
I was raised in the Methodist Church, but drifted away from regular church attendance. There was no sudden break; this drifting away was something that happened over time, probably beginning in my teenage years as, I suppose, isn't uncommon. At some point after I'd gone off to college, I began to feel a need to have an active spiritual practice again. This really, was the beginning of my explorations and wanderings that led me far away from my original faith. Some of the details of my wanderings are briefly recapped in the first couple of posts to this journal, so I won't repeat them here.
I've arrived at a point in my life where, though I struggle with my faith, I feel like I want and need to give Christianity another look. I've begun this journal as a place to record thoughts related to this search for faith, and as a place to keep bits of Scripture, Hymns and other works I find helpful or inspiring. Posts about other areas of interest such as politics, music, my dog, the outdoors etc. may occasionally be made here, as well, though I don't intend for those subjects to be the primary focus of this journal.
