Reasons to be happy

1. The "Evil New Zealand Hobbit Death Flu" (thank you for that lovely image, plumsnickety) is abating somewhat. We've moved from the sneezing-and-general-ickiness phase to the hacking-cough-but-otherwise-not-too-bad phase. Made for an interesting night at choir last night, that's for sure.

2. Doc Locke last night was his usual entertaining self. Three quotes:
- "These notes aren't like Bob Evans sausages; you don't twist them off, you cut them off."
- "Remember, this is evening twighlight, not zebras dying on the Discovery Channel."
- "This was written about 100 years ago...when I was born..." (We're singing about food. Lots and lots of food. I will never, ever be able to keep a straight face during this song.)

3. I have e-mail from "Norgol" in my inbox. Hee.

4. Irish Lit. I think I'm becoming Professor McMullen's one-woman fan club, but I love that class. We talked about the whole love triangle-esque stuff between W. B. Yeats, Maud Gonne and John McBride today for a bit, and how Yeats called McBride "a drunken vainglorious lout" in a poem after Maud Gonne married him. Heh. We're reading The Playboy of the Western World for next week, which should be really good.
