Message from The Director

Agriculture has long been perceived as a sector with tremendous role in the development of Bangladesh where it absorbs 47% of the total labour force of the country (largest employment sector), and contributes about 17% to the GDP. About 67% of the total populations live in rural areas. In the last few years the sector has been seen an unprecedented gain with government and private sector initiatives. The sector has been changed significantly from subsistence agriculture to agribusiness/commercial agriculture. To make it more efficient and competitive with the increased global competitiveness, the sector invites a tremendous need for professional courses in Agribusiness Management, and to produce manpower in agribusiness as an entrepreneur and manager. A large number of graduate students from agricultural background are produced in the country each year. With this view, the IADS has taken initiative to enhance the students’ capability to handle the agribusiness sector more effectively as business manner. The institute started MBA in Agribusiness, a two-year full-time programme in 2013. The Programme is divided into four semesters including internship. The course focuses on creating manpower with domain knowledge of agricultural sciences and the concepts of business management to serve as professionals in agriculture, food industry, and rural business.
