HTML Compact is a tool created for webmasters in order to compress HTML files. The importance of using HTML Compact is that it reduces the size of the web page resulting in faster load times thereby saving disk space and bandwidth. When the web page is used in a client's browser, the documents will be uncompressed and the page will look exactly as it was before compression. The size of the page can be reduced by as much as 80% while keeping its appearance because of its efficient optimized text compression algorithm. The screen can be divided into three areas. Area 1 contains tabs that perform specific functions. Area 2 contains buttons used to complete the operations and Area 3 displays hints for each option chosen by the user. The input tab compresses all web pages from a single or different directory into another directory. The output can be decided by the user to create a new set of compressed files, copy the files to a new folder after compression or over-writing existing files after making a backup. The mode of compression can also be decided by the user for compressing the code between BODY tags or as a whole. The tags to be skipped during the compression can also be specified by the user. The list of all compressed files is also displayed to the user under the Result tab. The self extracting code is written in JavaScript with high compatibility, so any JavaScript enabled web browser (Internet Explorer, Netscape Navigator, and Opera) can unpack and display your compressed pages easily.
