What is Hospitality Quotient?
Founded in 2010, Hospitality Quotient extends the principles behind Union Square Hospitality Group’s enduring success to organizations beyond our restaurants.
At USHG, we believe both IQ and HQ matter. IQ measures intelligence. HQ measures one’s capacity to take joy in serving others. Both are critical, but we always start with HQ.
Grounded in Enlightened Hospitality, HQ equips leaders and teams with the behaviors, frameworks, and decision-making skills needed to create exceptional experiences for employees, customers, and communities alike.
Through workshops, advisory programs, and speaking engagements, we help organizations apply hospitality as a disciplined approach to leadership and performance.
When you place hospitality at the heart of your business, great things follow.

FAQs
-
Yes — if your work involves people, customers, or teams.
HQ works with organizations across hospitality, healthcare, retail, corporate, finance, education, and beyond. Our approach helps teams show up with intention, lead with empathy, and create more meaningful experiences — regardless of industry.
Hospitality, as we practice it, is a mindset. When applied thoughtfully, it strengthens culture, leadership, and performance anywhere people interact.
-
HQ is not a software platform or self-serve training library. We work directly with individuals and organizations through in-person workshops, custom programs, and advisory engagements.
Depending on how you engage with HQ, this may include:
Facilitated workshops for individuals or private teams
Custom-designed sessions for off-sites, retreats, or leadership groups
Advisory programs tailored to your organization’s culture and goals
Access to curated supporting materials that reinforce key ideas before or after live sessions
Everything we do is grounded in decades of leadership and operating experience from Union Square Hospitality Group — and designed to be practical, human, and applicable in real work environments.
-
Yes. While our roots are in hospitality, HQ’s work extends far beyond restaurants.
The principles we teach — empathy, accountability, trust, consistency, and care — have been applied successfully across many industries. These are not abstract ideas or personality traits; they are behaviors that can be practiced, taught, and reinforced.
If you’re willing to engage honestly and apply the work, the approach translates — regardless of industry or job title.
-
Most HQ workshops are hosted in New York City, typically at Union Square Hospitality Group locations.

We believe hospitality is best experienced live — through conversation, shared meals, and real human connection. At this time, we do not offer virtual or self-paced workshop alternatives.
-
