Soooo it has come to my attention that this community is doing the best work and so this post is not quite as necessary. Please direct your help and charity efforts to help_haiti, as they are doing a fantastic job!

Hello, everyone. It has come to my attention via several friends and a couple pokes (thank you asnowyowl!) that it might be a good time to get a list together of folks who are offering various trinkets, fics, artwork, jewelry, and services in exchange for donations towards the Haiti earthquake relief efforts.

As you may know, Haiti was struck with a 7.3 earthquake, and though details are pouring in very slowly, reports estimate the damage to be critical and severe. This community was founded to help the equal rights efforts in the US, but we are all incredibly saddened by this news for Haiti and are hopeful that we can do our part for their relief.

I'm compiling a list of wonderful fandom folks who are offering their services in exchange for donations to various charities and relief efforts. Please comment on this post if you are one of those people and would like to have your name added.

Please include: *Type of Offering, *Charity Donated To, *General Pricing or Bids (i.e. $5 per fic or Best Offer Via Bidding), and *Date Your Offer Ends as well as any other relevant information you can offer.

Suggestions for HPEquality

Hi everyone!

Firstly, let me just say thanks to everyone who has participated in hpequality thus far! Whether you donated money, fanfic, items, or fanart, your contribution to the fight against Proposition 8 and basic human equality is incredibly appreciated. Through your efforts, we were able to raise over $600 for this cause, which is currently in the Supreme Court, so keep your fingers crossed!

Now, onto my reason for a mod post—we need your help!! nolagal and I have been discussing ways to get this community on a regular cycle. When I first envisioned hpequality, I didn't really have a game plan. But now, we're trying to come up with one so we can continue and expand our fund-raising efforts here. :)

So, if you have a moment, please fill out this quick survey and leave us some comments so we can work on getting hpequality back up and running!

Rather than the full service treatment, this is just a quick and dirty list. If you are offering fics, please post a comment here with a link back to your post, I will maintain a running list.

I'm certified with PI, if that makes a difference to shoppers. ;)

1. Donations Collected

We have raised $358 so far for Equal Rights!!! This is an amazing number to have raised in the span of two days (well, technically it was raised in about the first 3 hours). Thanks to everyone who's donated so far - you guys are amazing!

Okay, I just wanted to post one last FAQ section before we launch tomorrow. Q. How do I claim a prize?

A. Monday, November 17, 2008, we will send out an Offers Post, which will list every author and artist who has submitted an application and what they have stated they can write/draw. If there's something on the list you want, comment on the Offer Post and say so.

Twice/week we'll update the Offers Post as a repost, which shows the updated list of items you can still claim.

Q. Is there a format for claims?

A. YES. The format is as follows:

For example, if I saw a 500 word fic from nolagal on the list, I'd claim as follows:

Q. What if I want to claim more than one thing?

A. Submit each claim separately using the format above. Try to keep your claims to 3 or less so that everyone has a chance to claim what they want. :)

Q. What happens after I claim something?

A. After submitting your claim(s), go and donate the amount to the cause of your choice. We recommend four different organizations (see our LJ Userinfo or below), but you aren't limited to those. Please donate to the Equal Rights campaign of your choice.

Once you've donated, send a receipt of your donation to snarkyscorp@gmail.com so I can approve.

Q. How much does everything cost?

A. Unless otherwise noted, fic costs are as follows:

100 words = $1 per fic
500 words = $3 per fic
750 words = $5 per fic
1000 words = $8 per fic
3500 words = $10 per fic
5000 words = $15 per fic
10000 words = $25 per fic

Art, trinkets, and knitted items are priced at the participant's discretion.

Q. Where can I donate?

A. Here are the four organizations we suggest, but if you have one that's not listed, please feel free to run it by a mod so you can support the cause. We're trying to limit this community to Equal Marriage Rights at the moment, but will likely open that up for more causes in the future.

Q. How long do I have to make a donation?

A. You may take no longer than 48 hours. If you need to make arrangements beyond this, please message one of the mods for approval. If we haven't received your receipt within 48 hours, your claim will be back up for grabs.

Q. Is there a limit to how much I can donate?

A. Heavens, no!! If you are able to donate more than the allotted suggestion, please do. :) That said, I'd like to keep claims to 3 or less so that everyone has a fair chance to get the fics and drawings they want.

Q. I want to write, draw, or offer a prize! How do I do that?

A. Post your application here at any time! Your offering(s) will be added to the next weekly post.

Q. How much can I offer?

A. As much as you want! We have folks offering a ton of fics and trinkets and others who just don't have time but were able to commit to 2 or 3 things. We will take any and everything we can get, so the more you can offer, the better!

Q. How long do I have to give my prize to the winning claimer?

A. Once the person who claimed your prize is confirmed, they'll contact you to work out any further details (like pairings, kinks, story ideas, etc). From there, you have up to 3 months to complete your prize unless otherwise stated in your application. If you are having trouble meeting your deadline, please message one of the mods immediately.

Q. What can I offer to hpequality ?</lj>

A. Everything! We have fics, art, trinkets, and knitted items being offered at the moment, but if you have other ideas (t-shirts, shoes, stickers, plushies, etc) please don't hesitate to offer them.

Ok, tomorrow they're organizing a HUGE, HUGE Prop 8 protest where people across the nation are going to march on their city halls and protest inequality. No matter what state you're in, there's a protest in your state. There are quite a few in Canada, as well as Australia, Belgium, France, the Netherlands, Japan, and even the UK.

I've gotten a few questions and there has been some confusion as nolagal and I get this community ready for launch, so I thought I'd address these today. Please remember to spread the word and if you have any comments, suggestions, etc, let us know!!

I want to provide fic/art/other for the cause! How do I do this??

Drop off an application here so we know what you're offering to write, draw, or give away and how long each thing will take you. We'll approve your application and you're set. Also, please friend the community so you know when we launch. That's literally all you need to worry about for now. As members start claiming your work, they'll contact you for their prize.

I want to donate money to claim fic/art/other! How do I do this??

1. Friend hpequality !
2. Wait for our launch.
3. Once we go live, we'll post a massive list of fics/artwork/other stuff being offered. Comment on that post and tell us what you're claiming.

That's it! Once we approve your claim, you go donate your set amount to the equal rights cause of your choice, email me a receipt, and you get your lovely fics/artwork/other stuff. I'll go over this again in the launch post.

When will hpequality go live?

We are scheduled for a tentative launch on Monday, November 17, 2008. This is assuming we have enough participants (both buyers and writers/artists). Spread the word!

Call for participants!
Hpequality is a community dedicated to raising money and awareness for issues involving equality. Currently, money raised will be going to fight California’s Prop 8 but additional issues may be added. The community will be a gift for donation system with set levels of "donation" for each gift. Please see our user_info for more information including organizations accepting donations.

Additionally, we will have monthly Community Fics where donors can vote on authors, pairings and prompts.
This should be lots of fun and we are open to suggestions! Comments and Questions can go to snarkyscorp or nolagal

Authors, Artists, and anything else you have to offer!
This is the sign-up sheet to participate. You may offer as much or as little as you like. Please ensure that you will be able to deliver what you offer within a reasonable time (3 months). A set amount will be assigned for fics, anything else you will need to assign a monetary value. There will not be a bidding system, strictly donation only.

To making an offering: Comment below and fill out the form. Once your offering is purchased, the details will be worked out between you and the donor. If your gift is not claimed during a week, it will roll-over. If at any time you need to withdraw a gift, contact snarkyscorp

To Claim a prize: Twice weekly, a post will go out announcing the participants and offerings. A list of organizations to donate will be posted and donations will be made directly to those organizations then donors will contact snarkyscorp to claim their prize.
