Age | around 100-150, but appears to be in his mid 20s which is where I would place him mentally as well.
Gender | Male/Male

Personality |
Brash, hot headed, rowdy and occasionally as loud as he appears at first glance, Renji still manages to be caring and quite loyal. If you mean enough to him you may just catch him being a bit of a softie.

Even as a kid, Renji was a bit of a rebel. Growing up on the streets, he had to do what he had to do. He had friends to look out for and protect, and because of his spiritual abilities, he also had to constantly think of where his next meal was coming from. Growing up in Rukongai forced him to miss out on being a generally carefree child, but watching his friends get killed helped him to develop leadership qualities due to his desire to provide for those he cared for. Those traits very obviously stayed with him, however he was still a child. He wanted attention in return for his help, to be the only leader, and he wanted all eyes on him. He wanted to be the star and constantly impress all of the friends he kept around him. That became a pressure that he put on himself, but it motivated him to continue to survive until he reached an age where he had a chance to escape.

As an adult, he shed some of the 'all eyes need to be on me' attitude, though he can still occasionally seem cocky and over-confident, and the tattoo's that decorate his body still hold an undertone of 'look at me'. However, because of the hardships he faced for many years of his life, he is very capable of being serious, even if it that may not seem to be the case. Covering up his own problems with light hearted jokes or just by simply ignoring them is his solution far too often, but helping a friend with their problems is an entirely different story. He may keep up a tough guy front but he has a soft heart, and though he may feel awkward about it, he will always do his best to comfort a friend. He's developed his own methods in order to cope, and they appear to work for him.

It's when something/someone he truly cares about is in danger, that he switches off his lighthearted, playfully competitive and laid back personality to dip into something more serious. He's the definition of hot blooded, and when he's determined, he won't allow anything to get in his way, especially if failing means that he might lose a friend. When this is the case, he often acts quite spontaneously and without much thought at all. It's only when a matter is generally unimportant to him personally that he will stop and think for a few moments before he charges into action.

He just can't seem to help the way that he sees red when a loved one is in danger. The bonds he forms are very important to him and he isn't one to throw away friendship due to a small argument or difference in opinion, though he may argue, yell and wrestle to reach an agreement. Even though he was jealous that Rukia held the same ability he did while he was a child, he still retained that desire to protect and become really good friends with her. He went with her to Soul Society to get them both out of the ghettos that they lived in for so long, he supported her through everything, and he even let her go without hesitation when an opportunity of a lifetime was presented to her even if it meant he ended up not talking to her for nearly 40 years. He wants the best for his friends, even if it means that they get taken from him, and he'll do everything in his power to make sure that they get to live the lives that they deserve. He'd gladly sacrifice parts, or the entirety of his own life just to see to that happening.

Being willing to sacrifice himself may be seen as a weakness to some, but without his strong and determined will he wouldn't have been able to achieve all that he has. Constantly striving to meet his goals, Renji will do everything it takes to satisfy himself and the needs of those he cares about. The moment he felt Kuchiki Byakuya's power he was determined to surpass him, and that drive alone fuelled a good majority of his immense progress as a shinigami. He sets high goals for himself, perhaps too high to even be possible, but blind determination has kept him alive for over a hundred years. He doesn't know how to fail and give up, and rational thought may be beyond him at time but when he wants something, he develops a passion for it. To gain power, to protect, to be his own unique version of a hero. However with passion comes emotion, and he is easily blinded by it in the more intense moments which often leads to him nearly bleeding out on the ground several times during the series.

For the more analytically developed, Renji is often an easy man to read. There's no need to hide what he feels, he doesn't try, and even if he did there is a good chance he wouldn't be capable of masking himself to a large extent. If he's upset he's going to let you know about it, and if he's angry off well you're definitely gonna know about it. He wears his experiences in his eyes, and what some may target him for, he only sees as progress and strength. He isn't about to let anyone push him around for showing who he truly is.

On an average day, Renji can come off as silly, hot headed and a good chuck of comic relief. He's happy with his life, his goals, his friends and his current situation but he's far from done improving himself. He's not about to let anyone mess around with him or his friends if he has any say in the matter. he's a vice captain and until he surpasses that position, he will wear that title with the utmost amount of pride.

Possessions |
Upon arriving, Renji will be wearing his shinigami uniform (Hakama + Kosode, sandals, fundoshi and vice captains badge) and he will have his sword and a pair of sunglasses on him. Other than that, he'll have nothing.
Character Abilities/Powers |
As a seated member in the gotei 13 squads, and a vice captain at that, Renji demonstrates a very impressive range of developed abilities.

First and foremost he has obtained both shikai and bankai with his zanpakuto Zabimaru and has managed to hone his swordsmanship well enough to skillfully control a sword that, in release, acts like a very long whip. On top of that control, he is very skilled with a standard katana and is able to rely on brute strength in battle if necessary.
His Kidou skills (demon arts) are below average for someone of his rank. Occasionally he can effectively preform a few spells, however they usually blow up in his face.
He's highly skilled in shunpo (flash step) and can keep up with a good majority of the captains.
Weaknesses/Fears |

Renji's strengths lie in being a good friend and fighting for what he desires. He's loyal, protective and cares about all of the people that have bothered to stay in his life. He'll fight until he literally cannot move another muscle to protect one of his friends, and he'd willingly give his life to save another. He's determined, ambitious, and would have to be tied up and locked away before he'd stop trying to reach his goals in any situation.

At the same time, his will to protect can get him into trouble. Though he strives to remain professional as much as he can, his emotions tend to guide him in a tense situation, which can lead to him making decisions that may jeopardize everything he's worked for simply because he can't seem to find enough logic while tense or under pressure. Intricate problems and situations may leave him confused at times, frustrated or put down and it can take a lot to get him up and going again.

His physical strength is no where near lacking either. Keeping himself in top shape is a priority of his, and he's skilled in physical combat with his fists as well as a sword and his large stature makes him a somewhat intimidating opponent to those who don't know him. He relies on brute strength often during a fight, and can knock back pretty powerful foes. His stamina and endurance are exceptional when he's motivated, even being known to continue to fight when he really should be immobilized, and when not overly desperate pertaining to his situation, he can still hold his own in a drawn out fight.

Relying on brute strength alone leaves his tactical abilities short. Only when he's desperate will he even attempt to come up with a plan that isn't 'just keep slashing until you win'. No matter how many times he's gotten his ass kicked due to this flaw, he still hasn't learned his lesson, and instead of trying to improve his brains, 80% of the time he'll end up smacking something with a sword in hopes that he'll be better prepared for his next fight.

First-person |
[ The video flicks on to show the beach: sunny, beautiful landscape, palm trees and fruits. Yet, the lens is slowly zooming in, cutting out all of that lovely scenery and still not giving the viewers any indication of who is filming.
Most certainly because the cameraman is trying to figure out how to work the device from behind the lens, and a few seconds later the zoom backs right up almost fast enough to be dizzying to any onlookers. Then it spins, and finally there is a face.]
Yo- [Can you say delicious sunglasses? He looks quite pleased.] Abarai Renji here, reporting in through this thing. [He absolutely hasn't been lounging on the beach for hours before getting around to this.]
Did I fall asleep 'r somethin'? Thinkin' everyone went all out plannin' this trip but I don't remember how I got here, and everyone went an' ran off on me. Not that 'm complainin', just need ta know when I gotta pack up to go back.
Dunno what this camera thing is either, guessin' no one got a budget cut this month. [He pauses, looking thoughtful for a second because there's still something weird about this.] I've seen a few humans running around, bein' weird an' saying weird things. [Like that guy who was there when he woke up. Maybe there's drugs around this part of the world or something. Course he'd just had to get up and tell the guy that he wasn't interested in anything but that encounter was still weird enough to have him thinking.]
Never thought you guys would forget ta clear the area. [But, he shrugs.] Anyway, someone get back ta me on this thing, I'll be sittin' right-- [Camera turns to the sand behind him, and there's a nice butt imprint where he was sitting a few minutes ago] there. [Back to his face, he waves, and then it cuts out.]

Third-person |
Course the water, the sun and the girls were all winning features about the beach he'd ended up living on, but he could only sunbathe for so long before he started to twitch with the need to move around. Playing games on the beach was only entertaining for awhile, and he'd needed more than that.
Wandering down the beach and looking for something to do had led him to the waterfall, and then the cliffs beyond. His body was human now, he knew that, but not much was different, and that sure as hell hadn't stopped him. If anything it had spurred him on, and that was how he'd ended up scaling the rocks beside he falls. It'd been tough, and it was damn harder to work a human body but at least it was better than a Gigai.
Once he'd made it to the top, he sat on the cliff and stared out over the beach, really just admiring the scenery and making a note to himself to get back up here to watch the sunset one night. It was hot, but he was soaked from the mist and his own sweat which was no where near a bad thing. No one was up here, so he stripped his shirt and laid back against the rocks, the grass and the dirt to stare up at the sky. The sound of the water was drowning out everything else, he couldn't even hear himself think, and the energy was hyping him up. Maybe he should go explore around in that forest? Maybe take a chance and dive from this cliff. If he hit the water the wrong way, would he die? How easy would it be to die in this body?
He raised his hand up in front of his face and balled a fist. It wasn't all that bad. As shitty as it should be, being trapped away from home, he was enjoying this. This freedom; no paperwork, no meetings. He would say that it was like being a kid again but this was a hell of a lot better than being a kid. He'd had more responsibility as a kid than he had as an adult. No, this was just, a well deserved holiday, and hell if he wasn't going to take advantage of every second of it.
