Technology

Houdini is the first open-access software-defined radio system that will simultaneously support multiple radio modules and be sample-synchronous across diverse bands, i.e., CBRS (3.55-3.7 GHz), X-band (8-12 GHz), Ku-band (12-16 GHz), and V-band (57-68 GHz); Houdini will allow modular expansion of radio front-ends, and multiple Houdini nodes can be combined to form custom mega-nodes that will be able to address 10s to 100s of antennas across the multiple bands simultaneously.

Goals

Houdini provides capabilities several steps ahead of existing platforms, thereby empowering the community to experimentally explore new directions in wireless networking, sensing, and imaging. Building a single platform that addresses the needs of many research communities will also spur collaboration among diverse research communities. To support multiple research communities, the project will maintain open-source libraries for wireless networking, sensing, and imaging.
