This is the culmination of the summer writer’s residency, where Chi will launch the text they’ve written during the residency, published as a booklet by the new IRL Press. These will be on sale at the launch for $5 each.

HOT SHOTS CAFE – 90s MOVIE NIGHT

HOT SHOTS CAFE is going nostalgic with 90s faves CLUELESS and EMPIRE RECORDS screening back to back. Get down early for a free vegan feed. For all you fans of a sugar high, in addition to our usual vegan feed, there’ll also be plenty of rubbish childhood snacks on hand Thursday for the movies.
WALK 4 WEST PAPUA FUNDRAISER
Saturday 8th April
Come see great live performances by some wonderful musicians and fill your bellies with yummy vegan food provided by the Food Not Bombs collective, all while raising money for the Walk 4 West Papua, a 73km walk from Geelong to Melbourne in late April to raise public awareness of the ongoing genocide by Indonesian security forces in the occupied territory, and to garner public support for the movement for West Papuan sovereignty!

Making a pact of formlessness and nothingness, Hordes of the Black Cross (MELB) and Funeral Moon (ADEL) are now armed with a split album that will reign the beginning of a new darkenss in Australian black metal.
From the shadows of the Australian black metal underground come these two primal forces of unbinding fire. Arising from the same grimy DIY culture that froths a nihilistic worldview and a universal art/life practice, Hordes Of The Black Cross and Funeral Moon recognized the other as kindred spirits united to devastate a scene intent on imitation and insincerity. Yet neither forget the old gods and masters of black metal, as they forge their own path of twisted destruction.

Having fronted a string of U.K. bands between them, this duo are now taking to the stage together playing a mixture of folk punk and old time.
Following their UK and European tour in 2016, Bourgeois Robbery are now touring Australia with the fresh release of their debut Ep “No clams, No games, just good EP!”.
Wielding a punchy sound with a variety of instruments and raw harmonic vocals, these new kids on the scene are well worth checking out.

starting off with a game of dodgeball at 7pm and ending with a screening of CSA: the confederate states of america by Kevin Wilmontt from 8.30. This film portrays an alternative history where the confederate army wins the american civil war, detailing political and cultural events of confederate history up until the early 2000s. this film exposes the continual existence of racial discrimination in america. food and soft drinks will also be provided by donation.
