No. Cloud backup services use proprietary protocols and agents. Hosted PBS is a real Proxmox Backup Server — native protocol, client-side encryption, chunk-level dedup. Your Proxmox VE treats it exactly the same as an on-premises PBS. The only difference is that we operate the hardware.

You manage: backup jobs, retention policies, prune schedules, encryption keys, and which VMs to back up. We manage: the PBS server process, OS updates, disk health, ZFS scrubs, hardware replacement, and datacenter connectivity. Your backup data and keys are never accessible to us.

Every account gets 100GB of hosted PBS storage included at no cost, with no expiry date. If you exceed 100GB, usage beyond that is billed monthly at the standard rate. No credit card required to get started.

Yes. If you already run a PBS on-premises, configure a sync job from your local PBS to the hosted datastore. This gives you a verified offsite copy without changing your existing backup workflow.

PBS uses client-side encryption. Your Proxmox VE or PBS client encrypts data before it leaves your network. We receive and store encrypted chunks. We never hold your encryption keys and cannot read your backup data.
