One of the only wizarding-only villages and the only one in Britain, Hogsmeade has expanded over the years. It is now a city-state after Scotland got independence. There are various shops and homes as well as Rutherford College for recent Hogwarts graduates. Rutherford has a small school house in the village and a larger castle up in the mountains.

Founded in 2001, Rutherford was opened in a small school house for NEWT upgrades. It was renovated in 2014 with diploma and certificate programs and dormitories for the students. In 2026, a castle was built in the mountains near Hogsmeade and Rutherford relocated there. With 10 floors, there is much room for the staff and students.

Despite Hogsmeade and Midlothian passage growing, Diagon Alley is still the number one place to shop. There are various shops that have been there for centuries, such as Ollivanders and Madam Malkins, but there have also been new shops in the last few decades, such as Bewitched Fashion and the Charmed Chocolate Drop.

Midlothian Passage is a secret shopping centre, just like Diagon Alley, with access through a marketplace for both wizards and muggles. It also contains the community centre for the wizards of Edinburgh.

There are two main cities in wizarding UK + wizarding Scotland: London and Edinburgh. London has the Ministry of Magic, St. Mungo's, Diagon Alley, and a Quidditch Stadium. Edinburgh has been developed quite a bit in the last decade to include Midlothian Passage, Edinburgh Clinic and Edinburgh Castle, where the notable Battle of Edinburgh took place.
