I GIVE UP ON REFORMATTING THIS AAAAHH IHU LJ

IC Information:

Name: Neku Sakuraba
Fandom: The World Ends With You

Timeline: Week 3, just after being shot by Joshua for a second time
Age: 15, approaching 16
Appearance: Neku!
Neku has orange, spiky hair, with long bangs that obscure his eyes and give a sense of detachment from others. He is almost always seen wearing his headphones on his person, if not on his head then around his neck. It connects to a white cylindrical mp3 player on a lanyard around his neck, and is always pumping out some tunes. His eyes are wide and blue and he attempts to stay out of direct eye contact with others, and his collar is high up and usually covers up his mouth. He has an oddly thin but muscular appearance, with a very distinctly emphasized hourglass figure. His shirt is sleeveless and striped down the center, with previously mentioned giant collar. His pants are white with blue trimmed pockets, adorned with yellow buttons he will never let hang loose again, and a loose hanging belt that obviously does nothing to help keep his pants up. His shoes match the design of his shirt, and look rather loose on him. All of his clothes are from the brand name Jupiter of the Monkey, with the exception of his headphones, which are a rare CAT made design.

Abilities: Neku utilizes the power of psychs, contained in different pins available throughout Shibuya. He is a rare case that is able to use any psych, whereas most can use perhaps one type of psych.
Each psych works differently, such as summoning fire, healing, ice, slashing attacks, etc.
To follow the power cuts in f1 and f2, I have organized a set of possible psychs he can use in f1 and f3, the set in f1 being very low powered and the type of pins you receive at the very beginning of the game.
F1:
Player Pin: Allows Neku to scan the area and read minds (not something he will often choose to do)
Player Pin: Allows Neku to scan the area and read minds (yes, he has two in-game)
Ice Blow : Ice emerges from the ground to strike an enemy
Pyrokinesis: Summons fire directed by Neku
Shockwave: Allows Neku to slash at opponents with a knifelike edge
Cure Drink: Restores health, will only be usable three times a day in facility
Force Rounds: Shoots bullets of energy at opponents
Psychokinesis: Allows Neku to levitate objects to throw at opponents
F3:
Player Pin: Allows Neku to scan the area and read minds (not something he will often choose to do)
Player Pin: Allows Neku to scan the area and read minds (not something he will often choose to do)
Black Mars: Allows Neku to summon powerful black and white fire and direct it at opponents
Black Jupiter: Allows Neku to direct powerful bolts of black and white electricity at opponents
Black Uranus: Allows Neku to summon a powerful pillar of black and white ice from the ground under an opponent
Black Venus: Allows Neku to direct power bullets of black and white energy at opponents
Black Saturn: Surrounds Neku with a black and white impenetrable barrier that heals him over time; he can move freely and have the barrier surround him, and anyone who touches the barrier will lose health
Black Mercury: Creates orbs of black and white water that will inflict damage if touched
Wolf: Neku moves at a rapid pace, and inflicts damage to anyone he passes by

Personality: Neku is, first and foremost, a very unsociable person. He states he "doesn't get people", and uses his headphones to block them out as he moves through the city. He has an extremely low opinion of others, and considers people only worthwhile if you can get something out of them. He considers society an annoyance that constantly tries to force its trends and values upon him, and expect things out of him he doesn't want to do.
Neku refuses to make friends, believing they will drag him down in life and provide unnecessary baggage. This actually stems from a traumatic experience when he was younger, where his best and perhaps only friend was killed in a car accident on his way to meet up with Neku. Ever since then Neku has blocked out people, refusing to make connections that could bring him so much pain and sadness again.
Neku has a huge admiration for the artist CAT, especially due to their motto to "do what you want, when you want, where you want", and "live in the moment". He is a rather artistic person himself, largely inspired by CAT, and hopes to be as talented as him one day.
While initially being cold and blocking out the attempts at friendship his partners instigate on him, throughout the weeks he is in the game, he slowly starts to soften and become more trusting and open to other people. He finally begins to understand others and the value of friendship, and trust his friends wholeheartedly. While he still tends to put up his attitude of not-caring and sarcastic wit, he deep down loves his friends dearly and would do anything to help them.
Except Joshua. He's extremely wary of him right now.

History: Once upon a time, a confused ginger headed kid woke up in the middle of a crowded street.
And he was pretty damn confused. He had no idea where he was, why he was there, or anything besides his name. With a message on his phone and a timer on his hand, he panicked, running for his life to avoid the monsters that had begun to swarm in on him.
No one in the entirety of Shibuya could see him except for these odd creatures-- or, so he thought. When he reaches the statue of Hachiko he runs into a girl, who frantically demands he make a pact with her. Confused but seeing no other option, Neku agrees, and suddenly together they are fighting the monsters, called 'Noise'. From the girl who introduces herself as Shiki, he learns of his situation-- they are in The Reapers Game, a 7 day challenge to stay alive while fighting monsters, completing missions, and facing off against the Reapers.
He is reluctant to associate with her but keeps near based on necessity of survival, merely calling her 'Stalker' and not acknowledging her feelings or real name. His disregard for her safety is emphasized greatly when a Reaper tricks him, telling him if Neku kills Shiki that he would get out of the Game. While she wasn't lying, she also wasn't telling the exact truth-- when two players form a pact, their lives are connected, and if one of them were to die, the other would die aswell. Thusly, 'releasing him from the game'. He's stopped from his actions by a mysterious man, who sends the Reaper off and explains the finer points of the game to the two. It turns out his name is Mr. Hanekoma and he is a Guardian of the game, and owns a cafe on Cat Street. He becomes just about their own friend in the game, and Neku can't help but feel a sort of vibe off of him that attracts Neku to him.
The pair also  meet another partnership in the game, Rhyme and Beat. They agree to a truce and to work on the missions together, despite Nekus objections, and exchange information and pins to help each other out. However, during an easy mission to just walk down to a different district, the two groups decide to race, but due to Beats reckless nature, Rhyme ends up dead trying to save his life. This shakes them all to the core, and leaves Neku legitimately upset, even if he won't admit it-- in his mind, he compares it to be 'just like that one time', only to wonder what in the world he meant. This was a reference to the memory of his friend that was taken amongst his memories for his Entry Fee into the game, but it left enough of an impression on him the two situations related in his head. Hanekoma comes to the rescue and saves Beat, sheltering him at his cafe and somehow keeping him alive, despite the fact his partner was dead. Shiki and Neku are forced to continue the game on alone, with only each other to rely on.
Throughout the week the two work together and grow closer, opening up to each other and completing the missions. Towards the middle of the week Neku learns the truth behind the Game-- that the reason they were playing was because they were dead, and were fighting to be brought back to life. It is here that Neku reveals to Shiki he couldn't remember his past, and later Shiki reveals to him her entry fee-- her appearance. She had taken on the image of her best friend, who she envied and wished to be exactly like. Neku is the one to comfort her and assure her she is wonderful in her own way, and they grow even closer. By the end of the week they finally defeat the Game Master and win the game, only to discover only one of could return to life, and the choice had already been made-- Shiki. They promise to see each other again once Neku played again and won, and he finally calls her by her real name rather than stalker.
Neku is then forced to play the Game a second time, with a new entry fee this time-- Shiki. He's determined to win the game and find the most powerful partner he can, because not only was he playing the game for himself, he was playing for her. If a player is erased in the game, their entry fee is erased aswell. After running to the same spot he found Shiki, he is forced into a partnership with a boy named Joshua, who immediately rubs him the wrong way. It is with this infuriating, sarcastic, giggling boy that he spends the next week with, fighting off a crazy math obsessed Game Master named Sho, his former acquaintance Beat who has turned to the Reapers in hope of returning Rhyme to life, all while Neku remains extremely suspicious Joshua knows something that he himself didnt-- how Neku died.
Using the Player pin every player is issued, you can read the minds of those around you. However, you cannot read the minds of Reapers and Players, which makes Joshua a rather interesting case-- Neku could read his mind, but it was always the same thing-- an image of Neku at the mural in Udagawa, and gave Neku a tremendous headache after seeing it. Throughout the week he sees more and more of the image, until finally he sees Joshua shooting him. He is immediately thoroughly convinced Joshua was at fault, but for the sake of their partnership didn't bring it up until after they were safely at the end of the game. However when they finally reached day 7, Neku saw the image a little further-- Joshua hadn't been shooting at him, but Sho behind him. Enraged, they fight Sho, thinking they had him beaten when in reality, Sho was just warming up. He prepares to initiate a level i flare, flare to the power of infinity, which would certainly eliminate them all. So, Joshua sacrifices himself to protect Neku, leaving Neku to win the game alone.
But.
He had to go play a third time. And this time, his entry fee was every single player. This left Neku utterly defenseless-- without a partner, he would die. But Beat decides to save his ass and become his partner, becoming the single player team in the entire Game that week. The game has begun to unravel and break, and both Reapers and regular people alike were acting oddly, as if possessed. It turns out it was orchestrated by the leaders of the Game, supposedly the Composer, the absolute controller. It mind controlled anyone wearing a special Red Skull pin, turning their eyes completely red and making them chant the same phrase repeatedly. Beat and Neku spend the week trying to find the Composers hideout. By the end they succeed and find Shiki awaiting them, for reasons unknown to the three of them. So they continue on to face the Conductor, the Composers secondhand man. Shiki is then mind controlled by the Conductor like everyone else had been, and Beat and Shiki are forced to fight. Once he was defeated, the three continue on to the final room together, determined to fight together and win, strengthened by their friendship.
But alas, they hadn't defeated the Conductor afterall. They also discover Joshua waiting for them in this last room, but before Neku had time to start questioning things, the Conductor grabs his partners and encases them, siphoning their power while he transformed into a giant Noise dragon. Neku is forced to fight him alone until he manages to sync up with all three of his partners, releasing a devastating combo attack and saving everyone.
Then Neku was in for a shock.
As it turns out Joshua was the Composer all along, and was using Neku as a proxy for his gains. The Conductor and Composer had had a Game of their own behind the scenes, because Joshua had decided that Shibuya wasn't worth keeping alive any longer. The Conductor thought otherwise, and bet Josh that he could prove it was worth saving if he gave him the chance. Joshua agreed, with one condition-- he would have a proxy to prove that he was right, and Shibuya was a worthless wasteland. That's where Neku came in.
Joshua found him at the mural in Udagawa, but Sho was was hot on his tail, wanting to kill him and become the Composer himself. So over Nekus head Joshua shot, aimed at Sho. And Sho retaliated and shot back, while Joshua stopped the bullets in mid air and let them fall to the ground. Stunned, Sho ran, and Josh could return the attention back to Neku, who was on the ground in shock, and promptly shot him to death. Placing a Player Pin on his chest to guarantee his position as a player, Joshua departed, his plots in order. This was why Neku had two player pins at the start of the game, which also ended up saving him from the effects of the Red Skull pin being used to hypnotize others.
Joshua offered a final Game-- they two would have a shoot-off, and whoever shot the other would win, and choose what happened with Shibuya. Neku tried to shot Joshua, but he couldn't after everything he had been through and the friendship he thought he had forged with the admittedly annoying boy, and fell to the ground with tears in his eyes.
Joshua promptly shot him in the head.
And this is where Neku comes into facility, as he's dying from a bullet wound from Joshua. Again.

Roleplay Sample - Log:

Shiki had once told him how Shibuya was like every fashionable persons battleground. Now that he stopped to actually look at those who passed him, when the girl was now no longer by his side to encourage him and tell him more irrelevant facts he pretended not to hear but really did, he could see how it was so.

Every area had its own distinct style, it's own unique people. Punk style, lolita, ganguro style like Sota and Nao-- er, Nao-Nao,  classy dressed up people in suits and ties, and just all sorts he didn't even know the names for. It was like Shibuya was a mixing ground of all sorts of people, all coexisting and interacting on a daily basis.

It was different then the place he had once thought of it as, like a group of animals mulling around, each with a voice trying to be louder than the others, forcing their thoughts and ideas onto everyone that passed by. It was rather nice, actually. Biting another chunk out of his crepe, Neku leaned back against Hachiko, taking his game downtime with stride. To add an extra addition to his people watching, he pulled out his player pin, flipping it in his hand to activate the flood of voices into his head. He focused in on one person at a time, taking a peek into their minds.
'Aieee, so nervous... I hope the movies was a good idea. What if she doesn't like the movies? Or what if she doesn't like guys who can't make up their minds?'
The nervous looking man passed by with his date, sweat visible on his brow to those that cared to look. Neku's mouth quirked up into a small smirk, and he moved onto the next.
'So he comes up to me and says, "You're venom, baby, and I've contracted your poison." What is that!? A compliment? A put-down? I don't know what to feel! '
...What the hell kind of pick up line is that? Neku's eyebrow rose, caught between utter laughter and utter contempt. One more, then. He zoned in on an odd looking girl, curious to see what was going on in her mind.
'Uhh, I'm not good with crowds... Crowds bring out those symbols- the weebers! I can see them everywhere! There! Clinging to that guy's back- WEEBERS!!! Weebie weebie weebie...'
....
Holy shit.
Neku opened and closed his mouth a few times, face going between several different expressions before settling on a confused 'what the hell' look.
Maybe the concept of people in the RG seeing into the UG wasn't too far fetched after all. Shaking his head a little, he smiled, standing back up straight and tossing the remains of his crepe into the trash. 'Suppose he should take care of the Weebie on that guys back.

Roleplay Sample - Journal:

Josh, there is no way in hell this whole situation isn't your fault.
You shot me goddamn again and suddenly I'm in some weird ass facility where I'm gonna get experimented on and shit, and on top of that, I have to live in the same place as you.
No. HELL no.
Just keep a radius of atleast one floor away from me at a time and we'll be cool. I know I said I trust my partners, but I never said I would trust the Composer.
Especially after getting shot. AGAIN. Do you even realize how much that hurts? No, of course you don't. You're too busy giggling your ass off like a manipulative bastard.
So yeah. Thanks for sending me to friggin hell, douche. Don't bother replying.

This game includes horrible mental and physical torture of your character. After reading the rules/faq for clarification, how do you expect your character to handle this and continue to function?

Neku has actually already died, and has been shot to death twice. He is a very stubborn kind of guy and won't let the facility get the best of him. He also spent the better part of 3 weeks fighting monsters and getting injured, so physical torture won't be too bad for him, really. It's the mental torture that'll be a little worse, but with the support of people he befriends in facility he'll be able to make it through. Really, the worst part of it all will be having to live in the same general building as Joshua.
