New CEO develops & executes highly participatory Strategic Plan increasing affordable housing development by 33%, raising $1M in grant funding, while centering residents.
Case Study
Challenge:
CEO committed to increasing development of affordable housing from 3,000 to over 4,000 units over 3 years. To achieve this goal, departmental ‘silos’ needed to soften and be replaced by an increasingly inclusive culture centering the needs of residents.
Proven Solution:
DHIC engaged HIGOL to guide the creation and implementation of a new Strategic Plan. An in-depth Discovery Phase revealed both unrecognized opportunities & highlighted critical challenges. This informed critical strategic goals. Cross-functional multi-disciplinary Goal Teams developed to design and implement specific action plans.
Results:
Increased collaboration and broader thinking across the teams supported resolution of challenges around asset & property management & the growth of internal capacity. Over $1.0 million in grants & donations from individuals and foundations raised in the first year laying the groundwork for intentional advocacy work to increase community support for affordable housing. Improved communication across departments is keeping the team on track to deliver on the promise of thousands of new units of affordable housing.
