How to partition your Pendrive or Hardisk | Windows 10 or 11

If you’re wondering how to partition a Pendrive or External Hardisk, here is how you can partition your pen drive or External Hardisk easily using Disk Management in Windows. First insert my pen drive and please make sure you backup all the files from the pen drive as this will be formatted. Now to do the partition, go to the Start menu and search for Disk Management. Click on create and format hardisk partitions, and here you will find all of your hardisk information.

Right click on the Hardisk you want partition – Please be absolutely sure before doing this, as the drive will be formatted. Select drive, right click and simply click on Delete Volume. All data on the partition will be lost and it will become unallocated.

You can do as much partitions as you want. Simply right click on the Unallocated space and choose New Simple Volume, then click Next. Now you can assign the size you want to partition. For example, if you just want a 5GB partition, convert it to MB, which will be 5120 for 5GB. You can change the file system to NTFS or FAT32 and as well give a volume name and finish. This will create a 5GB partition to your pendrive.

You can choose to have another partition by following the same procedures. If you do not allocate a size, it will take all the available space of your drive and create a single partition.

And if you want to revert back to a single partition, just go to Disk Management and simply Delete all Volume. Then the space is Unallocated, right click and go to New Simple Volume, click Next, select the whole size (picked by default), assign a drive letter, Next, and Finish. This will also perform a quick format. Now if you go to This PC, you will see one volume with full size. This works for external hard disk, pen drive, or any storage device, and the method works on both Windows 10 and 11. Thank you very much.
