We make it possible for leaders at non-software companies to experience the heady power of a world-class analytics practice within two weeks. Delivery guaranteed, fully supported, $8K per month.
(Also we're consultants that care about people, think the humanities matter, and otherwise don't suck. You can infer a lot of things about what working with us is like from this.)
Every day, someone new mumbles something inarticulate about data being the key to business transformation. They have sharp suits, bleary eyes, and manic personalities. One gets the uneasy impression that they are a LinkedIn account that has grown into a twisted facsimile of life. They never explain precisely what is being transformed, or what it is being transformed into, as if this doesn't matter. At most, they might say that data is being transformed into insight, but these words do not mean anything to you. (Don't feel bad: they don't mean anything to anyone.)
These people do nothing for you other than give you the vague feeling that you're missing out on something.
You've got normal, ubiquitous business problems. Like having people on your team send invoices to clients manually over email. Or not knowing what a Very Important Number is without having to stitch a pile of spreadsheets together and wrangle an Excel formula. Normal problems that exist everywhere, but nonetheless drain your energy, annoy your team, and make everyone feel like there is more to life than wondering if the up-to-date revenue calculations are in
revenue_final_FINAL.xlsx
or it's in revenue_final_2024_v2.xlsx. All this data stuff is not the
core
of your business, so you don't want to hire someone to keep one measly spreadsheet up-to-date. But you also want to know that you're handling the data you have correctly, and most importantly you want things to just work. Is that really so unreasonable?
It is not unreasonable, and we can make it happen. And because we're pleasant people that aren't going to play a game of "What's your budget? Oh, our price is exactly that, what a coincidence!" with you, here's the cost.
$8K per month, with a one month trial where the deployment will be fully functional and you'll get a result you can use, and a one year contract at the same rate after that if you're happy. You'll have a fully functioning platform that can report on any data in your business, automatically refreshing dashboards, access to senior software engineers and statisticians, and all your friends will think you're super hip and cool once you show them what we've set up for you.
Is This Going To Help Me?
We want to make sure that we get you a good result, and we'll start by listing things that might mean this is the wrong deal for you. But, like, for real, not a bunch of fake points like "You're someone that hates value."
We may not be a good fit for you if:
- You already have a data platform that runs work so important that we have to migrate things: We can't hit the speeds we're promising if we have to work around a solution you aren't happy with, and if you're here then you probably aren't happy with it.
- You're a tech-focused company that isn't a startup: Since you already know how to hire software engineers and have in-house expertise, you're better off giving your team time to read up. We have a free talk, hosted by Google, available at this link to get them started. Startups don't have time for this, so working with us can still make sense.
- You have a failing data project already underway and need project rescue: We'd love to help, but our experience is that this doesn't work unless the prior team has been fully dismissed and their work scrapped.
- You could not possibly make an $8K per month payment responsibly: Our advice would be to defer any data work until this is viable for you. People tend to regret the issues caused by getting their foundations wrong, and affording a specialist for that is worth it.
- You work in tobacco, gambling, or cryptocurrency: 🤮
We probably are a good fit for you if you meet any of these criteria:
- There is a spreadsheet you rely on for reporting that annoys you a lot: This is a sign that we can do many great things together.
- You already have someone on staff doing your analysis, but they feel unsupported: We work very closely with your staff, and can teach them lots of things and make their lives better. Not to brag, but we've been high-fived by employees at clients within the first month.
- You're already thinking of going to market for your first analyst: We provide all the capability you'd get from an analyst plus a ton of other stuff for a lower cost.
- You want all your peers to think you're cool: We can do so many things for you to show off, you have no idea.
What Exactly Will You Do For Me?
Our typical engagement consists of a few distinct phases, which we run through very quickly, before setting you up with a robust analytics practice within the first month.
Phase One: Initial Conversation
We have our first conversation with you. This is free. In this meeting, we explain what the end result of the project will be in the simplest way possible: We've got an identical environment that we use for our own data needs. We'll walk you through it, you will understand exactly what you're getting with no technical mumbo-jumbo.
Phase Two: Strategic Workshop
This costs $2K, or is free if you're already convinced after Phase One that we're the right team for you, and want to commit to working with us. This is a highly structured workshop that we run through for two hours. It should involve at least one member of executive leadership, one middle manager, and one person responsible for business-as-usual delivery. Ideally, we'd like more, all the way up to ten people. In it, we get an idea of the biggest headaches you have, and agree as a group what should be delivered in the first month.
Phase Three: Preparing To Go Fast
After the outcome of Phase Two, we'll give you a list of things we need to hit the ground running. This is mostly boring, like "an administrator password to your Google Analytics and Xero accounts", or whatever data we uncovered that is needed to solve your problems. We'll give you a week to provide these, as we know that sometimes it's a pain to dig up credentials for old systems.
Phase Four: Build, Build, Build
Our team knocks out about two hundred hours of work for you in the first month. We'll set up everything that a mature organization needs for their data: a place to store the data, comprehensive documentation of all stored data for anyone in the business to view, and a layer where staff can receive automatically refreshing reports (you'll understand what all of this means because we'll have shown you during the previous phase). We usually finish this part in the first two days.
The remainder of the time will go into adding new high-value data from your business, creating the most important dashboards that you need, and otherwise giving you the fanciest stuff available on the market.
Phase Five: Ongoing Delivery
After the first month, we shift to keeping everything working smoothly. We make sure that outages are addressed promptly, and provide approximately twenty development hours per month for you to deploy as you wish. Twenty hours goes a very long way with our team.
Additionally, because of our mixed backgrounds (ranging from psychology to computer science), you can get some highly complex work delivered that is inaccessible to most businesses. You can ask for someone with a statistics background and you get results within twenty-four hours.
Phase Six: So Long, And Thanks For All The Fish
Eventually, your business will grow and it will be time to make your first full-time hire. This will be a very sad day. We will all be ugly crying, I am sure, but all things must pass. We'll help you make your first hire, show them how everything works for a month or two, then move on (though we can be available a few hours per week or whatever makes you comfortable until things have settled).
The technology we use is all industry-standard stuff. We're just pretty good at our jobs so it's easy for anyone on the market to understand what we've done and become productive with it.
