Notes for that one thread @ G_L

<strike>This is a mass PM you're receiving because you're part of Rinzler's terrorism thread.</strike> This is for anyone who still wants to join the thread.

This will probably get TL;DR, but you're getting this message just in case anyone wanted to know what happened to refer to later in game. This way you don't have to wade through the actual posts themselves. Also, after the timeline is a link to a new post in that thread if you want your characters to react to what has just happened. You can ignore everything after the link if you want to.

A rough time line that's been set up:
- Primary explosion happens
- Tron (Tronja) and Lee head to the building together
- Lee talks to Rinzler via comm networks and is hung up on.
- Anon, Flynn (the_gamemaster), the Trons (fight4theusers and alan1_tron), and the Kleinbergs (Ram, Wulf, Roy, Eric) get there and do their helpful hero thing [and it is beautiful!] Clu2 (clu2_perfection) oversees the damage and Tron (Tronja) goes to help other victims.
- Bored with stalking Anon's helpfulness, Rinzler goes off to harass the Kleinbergs *5-4*
- Leaving them, Rinzler meets up with a reintegrated Flynn *4*
- Going back to the building to check up on things, Rinzler finds and bothers Wulf because he didn't like his attitude *4-3*
- Flynn (creator_man) saves Wulf, but Wulf loses his disc to Rizler *3*
- Clu_1 and Fire meanwhile, have gotten on the scene and are trying to save the building
- Shortly after, Lee, Wulf, and Bit come to help these guys and find a whole bunch of hidden bombs
- Meanwhile, Rinzler in a bad mood, meets Anon who tries to steal Wulf's disc back. They fight and Rinzler gets pissy. *3-2*
- Lizor finishes his work shift and arrives on the scene to be helpful too *2-1*
- The bomb squad (Bit, Clu_1, Fire, and Lee) find even more bombs as Rinzler trolls them. The team goes to epically outrun the soon to be explosion, grabbing who they can, and Wulf joins the running pack.*1-0*
- And then Rinzler pulls a jerk move and detonates the second explosion. It is super effective, but not as effective as the bomb team would have thought. The question is why.

Link!:
http://grid-lined.livejournal.com/31076.html?thread=2107492#t2107492

[Remember you don't need to read this part] TL;DR on what's going on with that second explosion and all that Rinzler trolling:

When the ground team is nearly done neutralizing the first cluster of bombs, they find a second cache of about 2000 new ones. Now, we know that it probably took under five bombs to take out the entire End of Line Club, so 2000 would probably take out an entire sector, and Rinzler along with it, right?
Well the majority of these explosives are practice duds. They all have the same code as a functional bomb, but that won't detonate when they finish count down. Rinzler has a few reasons why he set this up.

The apartment building was going down in 2 hours, anyway (as noted by Fire). There was no saving it, so there's really no harm (past the psychological) in finishing the job (building wise). The explosion that happens is pretty contained, all things considered, and it doesn't take out any neighbouring edifices, so the only people that get hurt and those still on scene, and as Rinzler sees : too dumb to leave (not useful), incapable of leaving due to injury (no longer useful), or too weak to take necessary precautions and protect themselves (not useful). A few will derezz due to bad luck, but that's a necessary cost.

The duds look impressive (and there's merit in that alone) but they should also function to keep people from messing with the actual live rounds (the fireworks.) Not gonna lie either, but they're also there to troll the few programs that take it into their head to try and dismantle the first cache – because you do NOT try to best Rinzler. He hopes they get a good fright, and assumes they have what is coming to them.

The mass of bombs do promise to take out a lot more than just the building, and Rinzler also hopes that word gets out to emergency lines, since he still wants to measure how well the Grid can handle this. Don't forget that was the main reason why he did this all in the first place. And because bombs inherently have a time limit, he wants to see how quickly the remedial reaction time is. One disaster is something he won't put past what the Grid can handle, but start piling up the problems, and you get a better idea of how a system can handles stress. [So this is pretty much a computer stress-test hahaha]

The fireworks are there for a lot of reasons too:
They show that this wasn't an accident, they're less destructive than the bombs he used in the main explosion, they're flashy (and Rinzler is all about peacocking), they should hopefully get someone's attention, they're what go off in a celebration at the games (and Rinzler sees what he's doing as very worthy of celebrating), and finally, let's not underestimate the importance of the colour.

Also, one last important note: Rinzler is just a huge jerk too, even if he sees his actions as justifiable. So there's that reason too. Hahah.

What Rinzler thinks of characters

Kevin Flynn - He hates Flynn and resents the power that the User has on the Grid. Rinzler sees him as a false deity undeserving of his status. And where Clu blames the ISOs for everything that went wrong ever, Rinzler very quietly blames Flynn (and the ISOs too, but mostly Flynn).

Note: In the very likely event that Rinzler tries to murder Flynn, the best way to get Rinzler to cut that shit out (temporarily), is to have Kevin bleed a little in front of him. Alternatively, Rinzler catching Flynn in very real physical danger, might spur a protective algorithm or something, but that's a bit dicy to count on.

Yori - She's a vague but persistent memory in the back of his processor that has somehow mutated into a passive obsession. Rinzler projects what little he remembers about her into every female program he meets, and tries to find her in every new woman he encounters.

Clu - Clu is the only program to have earned Rinzler's respect and near trust, but that doesn't mean he holds any huge amount of affection for the administrator. Rinzler likes him yes, but he resents him too. Some days Rinzler is so overcome with the desire to hurt Clu, he is practically crippled by it.

Here's a bit of a hint on Rinzler's motivations towards his absolute loyalty to Clu. << That's a meme comment link.

Castor/Zuse - Rinzler knows Clu and Castor are in cahoots to some degree, but Clu has never bothered sharing his intentions - and for good reason, Rinzler is not a program properly equipped to scheme - but Rinzler dislikes Castor anyway, finding him treacherous and untrustworthy. If Clu asked - which he doesn't - Rinzler would advise rectifying the guy. He assumes Castor is too dangerous and too much of a nuisance to keep around. Especially considering his past transgressions.

Tron - Scraping up what little he remembers, Rinzler mostly pities and is embarrassed by his old version. He also resents his past self for being mentally weak, and not fighting to see past his old ideologies.

Anon - Rinzler never had a chance to meet him, but from what little he's heard, Anon sounds like a right pain in the side, and is a good example of all the trouble a member of the resistance can get up to, and how much they can set back the system's progress. Anon doesn't however strike him as sounding like much of a threat - just some punk program who he'd liked to have had the chance to put in their place.

Gem - Rinzler likes the sirens by association because he sees them as belonging to the games. He also understands that the sirens are attractive - in so much as he acknowledges that sort of thing - and he approves of her in a distant sort of way because he assumes she has some hierarchical power over other sirens. He is vaguely suspicious of her, given Gem's company with Castor, but because she is associated with the games, he's less inclined to think she's any sort of risk to the system/Clu. That doesn't mean he wouldn't be any less ruthless in dealing with her as a threat, he's just more prone to ignoring her.

Note: Given Rinzler's position as final boss for Disc Wars and given the art book's comment on what the Siren's represent, Rinzler has his own personal siren than attends to him before and after the games - if he chooses. She's unnamed, and they don't always live for all that long. For varying reasons.

Quorra - Rinzler has no interest in what the ISOs represent. To him all Quorra stands for is a loose end that needs to be remedied, and she irritates him because she's the one that got away - and continues to get away. Quorra's existence is kind of like a reminder that there are still imperfections floating around that he himself hasn't been able to take care of. And he would like very much to do nothing more than 'take care of' Quorra permanently. He doesn't however consider her a threat at all.

Sam Flynn - Sam is just another User, and further proof that humans refuse to follow established rules and social norms. This makes them dangerous, and also unattractive deviants. Rinzler further dislikes Sam because of his connection to Flynn, and sees the boy as an incompetent version of his father - though he doesn't completely understand the relationship between the two.

Jarvis - Rinzler understands that Jarvis must have some redeeming feature or usefulness - because why would Clu put up with him otherwise? But whatever Clu sees in Jarvis, Rinzler doesn't. There's a silent competitive animosity between the two, and Rinzler thinks Jarvis embodies everything that is weak and useless in a program. Secretly though, Rinzler understands that Jarvis is better equipped for logic, tactical calls, and ... thinking. But that's not something Rinzler relishes contemplating.

Alan Bradley - Alan is a User Rinzler has washed his hands of. He doesn't think Alan is worse than Flynn because at least he isn't parading around letting programs worship him, but once upon a time, Rinzler imagines Tron would have liked Alan to step in and save the Grid from Flynn's callousness and cruelty. (Keep in mind, Rinzler harbors insane bias and devours propaganda.)

Ram - Plain and simple, Rinzler doesn't remember Ram. Or rather, any camaraderie or friendship they shared, he's lumped into his feelings for Yori. Or more accurately, what he wants to believe is the entity that he's created to stand in the place of what Yori meant to Tron once - because at this point, what Rinzler has convinced himself he remembers about her, isn't all based on actual fact.

Abraxas - Abraxas came and went before Rinzler's time, and he wasn't a project anyone ever discussed with him. Probably for good reason.

Others - (as I remember them)

Rinzler's Dream|Nightmare for Hell Pointe

> You're in your dark sleekly designed workplace: the [ARENA] but you are [ALONE].
> This is fine.
> This is normal.
><strike> You are lonely</strike>
> ERROR: LINE 4
> [REDACTED]
> You are comfortable waiting for someone to interact with.

> There is [BLOOD] dripping down the walls of your perfect space.
> You step away but your heel sinks into something.
> There is [BLOOD] pooling on the floor.

><strike> Why didn't you notice it before?</strike>
><strike> What is wrong with you?</strike>
> ERROR: LINE 11, LINE 12
> [REDACTED]

> There is [BLOOD] around your knees now. And something else. It's:
> ERROR: LINE 14
> You don't know what it is.
> ERROR: LINE 16; STATEMENT: FALSE
> It is what you find inside humans. Things that are slippery, ugly, imperfect. Things that shouldn't be there and are sick coloured and smell badly and fall out of your hands wetly, leaving dirty residue and stickiness.
> You know you are filled with better things.

> The [BLOOD] is up to your chest now.
> You recognize something from among the floating shapes.
> A giant: [OPTIC SPHERE] surfaces and a pupil rolls around to stare at you.
> Something: [wet, warm, textured] laps up against your back before slipping out of view.
> You recognize it too: a large [TONGUE]

> You're forced to [SWIM] now and it doesn't matter that you've never executed this action before.
> Someone offers you a hand and you accept it gratefully. The hand belongs to your: FATHER_BEST_FRIEND_BOSS and they're all sharing a face.
>>>>>>>>>>>>”Hey man, relax.”
> You do.
>>>>>>>>>>>>”I'll take care of you.”
> They will.
>>>>>>>>>>>>”Let's just have a look at your [(SOUL|WEAPON|MOST IMPORTANT POSSESSION)] and I'll fix you right up.”

> They are holding out their hand for your [(...)] and you are [REQUIRED] to hand it over. They are correct because what is happening: the [BLOOD] is incorrect and you need to be fixed because you are seeing things that are wrong.
> You are broken.
> You can be restored.

> But you don't want to be REDACTED.
> You like being: [REDACTED]
> You like being: [YOU].
> You don't want to be: fixed.

> But now your FATHER_BEST_FRIEND_BOSS has your [(...)] and no one ever asks what you want.
> You never get a choice.
><strike>You hate it</strike>
> ERROR: LINE 42
> That is fine.
> You're just doing your job.
> What more could you want?
>>> Nothing.

> You watch [REDACTED] [IMPASSIONATELY] as your [(...)] is handled and then someone new is offering you their hand, and you realize now, the first One is a liar and a betrayer and they were only going to hurt you.
>>>>>>>>>>>>”Hey man, relax.”
> You do. But it's harder this time.
>>>>>>>>>>>>”I'll take care of you.”
> They should. Because you trust this one more.
>>>>>>>>>>>>”Let's just have a look at your [(...)] and I'll fix you right up.”

> And now they have a [[(...)].copy] and the two people who look the same but are not the same are working and you can tell they are breaking your [[(...)].copy].
> You want to tell one of them, both of them, all of them to stop but your mouth is full of: [THREAT: BUGS] and you can't speak past their buzzing.
> You will need to break their arms then.
> But the [BLOOD] is up to your neck now and closing over your vision and the only thing you can do is [REDACTED]

I have an exam in a few hours, 5 hours of sleep in the last three days and a final project that was due yesterday. Time for a meme with boring answers!

1. What is your favourite word?

Rinzler.

2. What is your least favourite word?

Unnecessary.

3. What turns you on?

CLU

4. What turns you off?

CLU

5. What sound do you love?

Crowd saying Rinzler. Again and again.

6. What sound do you hate?

Too much talking. Wasting words.

7. What is your favourite curse word?

Unnecessary.

8. What profession other than yours would you like to attempt?

Unnecessary. Best at given function.

9. What profession would you not like to do?

[Redacted]

10. If heaven exists, what would you like to hear God say when you arrive at the pearly gates?

[Redacted]

False idol. Would be silence.

Fun with Anatomy (Just as creepy as it sounds. But different)

This post is a strange list of the differences between Rinzler's organic biology and that of a normal human male for dissection / autopsy purposes. (For the Hell Pointe and Rotting games.)

The first thing you need to know is that Rinzler is still partly digital. This means that his discs work, he is sensitive to energy, can be reprogrammed, and still derezzes,

Internal:

To some degree he has all the organs he'd need to be a functional human being.

To make up for all the digital jazz he's got shoved under his skin now, he's missing some pieces of internal anatomy including: an appendix, a kidney, and a whole lot of intestine*

His heart is in the center of his body (so more centered and lower than usual)

His circulatory system and digestive system* is more efficient than your average human (why the heart and intestine thing work out)

His lungs are longer (larger) than normal (so he can hold his breath for longer and has more efficient gas exchange leading to better muscle power )

His heart is some sort of dual monstrosity that pushes both blood, oxygen and electricity through his bloodstream. The organ is padded with fat

His arteries are arranged to support this, and his largest arteries are the only things that hold any significant amount of blood

His spinal column is the second most electric part of him and carries electricity to and from his brain stem (which acts as a type of battery)

Certain portions of his brain are dark, damaged and inaccessible (mirroring the reprogramming done by Clu -- but more visible)

He also has circuitry and nodes on top of his brain, and the damn thing glows like what you see in an MRI brain scan but sans MRI). The brilliance is tied to how bright his external circuits are, and instead of tiny lighting storms you'd get with human axion neurons, his brain is damn Tesla arcs all day everyday.

His brain isn't wired the same way as a human's and is also significantly smaller than what would be considered average for his body type and age

His hypothalamus is split between other control centers in his body so he's better at regulating hot/cold and this supports his lesser need of blood (think how fish don't bleed so much and are mostly made out of <strike>delicious</strike> muscle)

He has the right number of bumps on his ribs, but instead of being separated, they're all connected together like two beetle wings. On the inside along his rib wall he's got more circuitry (à la 82 Tron aesthetic)

Rinzler's insides are slightly magnetic, so getting caught in a big magnetic field would really mess him up ( = IRL glitching)

The rest of his veins do pump a minute amount of blood, but they're mostly pathways to carry electricity (why he still needs energy)

On a cellular level, all of RInzler's everything is made up of uniformly cube-like shapes and lack the natural imperfection that reinforces things and makes them stronger. (This is why all of his bone and tissue still breaks off into pixels)

External:

He doesn't have a lot of body hair (right now) so he can't get goosebumps or grow facial hair <strike>(He'll never get that soul patch he wants)</strike>

Since his cells are all cuboid, if he were to be punched hard enough, the bruise would expand square by square in a very visually regulated fashion

His vision isn't actually 20/20 but he doesn't know that. If / when he becomes more human, he'll be nearsighted

He doesn't have pores and doesn't sweat (but he does have tear ducts)

Underneath Rinzler's uniform are his circuits but he has the old ENCOM circuitry patterns since he was written in that system. (Canon circuitry)

Because Rinzler is a bad guy his circuits glow red, but if he were to revert back to good-guy they'd turn white.

Dunno what Disney was thinking, but it's canon that circuitry is sensitive to touch (and that's supposed to be sexy) Look. When Rinzler's circuits are touched in one way or another they'll turn bright fuchsia (also embarrassingly canon)

Anything not mentioned above, means Rinzler will be human appropriate. Ex: He has normal sets of nerves for identifying hot/cold/pain.

Also, because his cells have to store so much kinetic energy, he needs to eat and sleep a lot. (Neither of those things holds any interest for him though... D:)

And I just wanted to say: I have never taken an anatomy class nor a physiology class nor any biology classes... so if this seemed a bit off, that would be the reason. If you have any feedback I would love to hear from you. Fake realism for headcanon is fun for everyone!

 Gif for your troubles.

.
-Character Information-
Name: Rinzler
Canon: TRON: Legacy
Gender: Male
Cell Phone: http://blog.dialaphone.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2008/02/alienware_mockup_2a.jpg
Physical Description: humanoid

Personality: When Rinzler had his original personality, he was kind, well meaning, and fiercely loyal – though a bit too serious around the edges. Now that his Tron personality lies dormant due to CLU manipulating his code, Rinzler (the new, current personality) lacks most of the things that made Tron seem human.
Rinzler is just as dedicated as Tron was, if not more so, but his allegiance has shifted away from the people he used to serve. Rinzler is brutal, tough, brave, and will do whatever his boss asks of him because he has been programmed that way. Rinzler is also relentless, and will doggedly follow CLU's orders, including hunting and killing the innocents he once protected. His actions are almost robotic, and always means to an end. Even the master manipulator CLU shows more personality while at rest, and is more indulgent in his posturing. Rinzler doesn't make an effort to accommodate anyone but his boss, and he doesn't waste time of kindness nor comfort, when he's manhandling people. There's a theory that on a subconscious level, Rinzler actions are sometimes to protect Kevin Flynn, but that goes into the realm of head canon.

Throughout the entire film, Rinzler only speaks once while under CLU's control, and uses body language to get his points across. He is recognized by everyone on the Grid as what is essentially: a lethal machine of death on two legs. Rinzler is incredibly competent at what he does, and this allows him to be CLU's primary and most trusted enforcer. CLU is rarely seen without this man by his side.

Rinzler also never hesitates, and is incredibly brave, putting himself in harms way over and over again. This is partly due to the fact that he is aware of his competencies, and also comes down to programming again. Simply put, Tron was written in a way that was superior to most other programs. His lack of fear is pretty evident as he is a final boss in the discwar games, making him the futuristic-techno gladiator champion of this canon.

Rinzler's undoing flaw is seeing Kevin Flynn – a human from his past who he can't stand to put in danger. Even when tasked with murdering the man (and his rag tag crew of good guys) Rinzler disobeys CLU's directives for the first time, and in a suicidal move, crashes the plane he is manning into CLU's, in a desperate attempt to help Flynn escape. From this scene we also see how Tron's personality comes to the surface, and see that Rinzler/Tron can speak more than just one word, but since Rinzler is coming to the game before this point in the film, he will have less problems with his dormant personality.

History: http://tron.wikia.com/wiki/Rinzler

Abilities: Rinzler used to be Tron, who was THE BEST security program around. And in canon terms, that means he's the best at everything when it comes to fighting. Rinzler is pretty much Tron but seriously lacking in humanity. And even though his Tron personality is dormant, all of his skills have been passed on. Rinzler is incredibly agile, flexible, strong, and has amazing aim. The easiest way to describe him is: an unbeatable combative gymnast who is the world champion at death frizbee.

Being from a computer, he is capable of making very quick calculations about physics and this lets him evade projectiles and fight as gracefully as he does. His judgement is superb when it comes to being where he needs to be, whether it be while doing back flips in the air to avoid and opponent's disc, or knowing where to position his lighcycle in order to most effectively accomplish his tasks. Because he is still partly digital, like the other programs of the Grid, he can still use energy to heal / energize himself, but his new body makes the process pretty inefficient (Tron: Evolution). He will be able to syphon electricity from anything that produces electrical light (Ex: light bulbs but not wall outlets) and turn it into energy or general health (think HP points). The stronger the watts, the more power he'd get. Static electricity will be nothing more than a tickle and have the same effects as caffeine, giving strong but very, very short lived adrenaline rush. None of these rejuvenating powers will be as effective as actual food or rest though since his body is still mostly human, but it will help keep him alive until he learns what food is. Being a program he has no knowledge that his body may now need this sort of sustenance.

Because Rinzler is a program and still retains his identity disc(s), if someone knows how to write programming languages, they could potentially rewrite Rinzler's behaviour or have him regrow a lost limb. It needs to be noted though, that getting a hold of his discs would be pretty difficult since he's aware of his dependency on them.

Rinzler also has the ability to see the footsteps and follow the paths of the people he is 'hunting', but again, since this is not the Grid, he can't do that barring a special event.

In the Betrayal comic books, Tron (who Rinzler was in the past) is shown to have the ability to materialize full body disguises. Barring a special event, he does not have this ability either, and has to change his clothing the human way.

Possessions: As part of his uniform, he has two light-sticks that can both turn into either a lightcycle or a lightjet. So that means that he carries two motocycles and two jet planes on his person. Barring an event, the lightjet portion of his baton won't work. The lightcycle portion of his baton will work, but since he's not on the Grid, they'll run out of power in about an hour, and unless he can find a way to recharge them, will essentially become useless. He also comes with his suit, helmet, light-handcuffs and double discs.

First-Person Sample:

[The video turns on, revealing a man in a reflective black mask. He's standing somewhere dark, and his inform is casting its own light. On anyone else, it might have been a silly costume, but somehow on this man it isn't.

He says nothing, and it is obvious that he knows he is being recorded by the way he stares directly at the camera. He doesn't speak and he barely moves, but there's something about him that seems dangerous, or at the very least, very capable.

There is a low noise from the video that could be a growl, or it could be a purr, but it doesn't sound organic. Actually, it kind of sounds like a broken hard drive spinning to its death.]

...

[Rinzler doesn't say anything. He doesn't need to. He knows that if there are any Black Guards here they will see this, and they will report to him. If CLU sees this, then he will give Rinzler further directives. If any Basics or ISOs see this, they will know their enforcer is now here. His reputation precedes him. Anyone of any importance will recognize his circuitry - and if not. Well. They don't stand a chance.

So he waits and lets his presence be known. After a while he reaches over and cuts the feed.]

Third-Person Sample: Rinzler finally pulls himself out of the sea and collapses onto his arms. He feels awful; there's a pounding in his skull, all of his muscles ache in ways he's unfamiliar with, his entire body feels alien and heavy and constricting, and he feels weak. He can't seem to draw any power from his surroundings ether and he sees his circuits flicker – not a good sign.

He allows himself three breaths, and even those feel new and bizarre – too wet and too organic – before he slowly pushes himself to his feet; he has neither the time nor the luxury to indulge in acknowledging pain. He tries to run a self diagnostic, but it comes back dead. He can't seem to focus properly and he isn't getting any readings on himself.

It must be the environment that is causing this interference then.

He looks over his shoulder to the ball in the sky that is casting his shadow. The light is blinding, and it punches into his eyes going all the way to the back of his brain. He growls and grits his teeth. He needs to find somewhere dark, and then he will need to survey the area and report all this to CLU. It is obvious this isn't the Sys. Admin's doing, and that means this is a User's fault.

Rinzler's growl dips in pitch. When he finds out who is responsible for his displacement, he will bring them to justice. Or perhaps he will bring them to the games. In the end it doesn't really matter; it's always the same outcome.

He sees some trees at the end of the beach, and while he doesn't know what they are, he understands that they will offer shelter from the awful thing in the sky. He is doubly glad now for his helmet, and its dark glass.

Taking a step forward his joints creak and he collapses. He snarls at himself, at the environment, and at the world. This is unacceptable! His movements have always been perfectly fluid, why now, does his body seem to be responding to him nanocycles too late? He gets up, tries to take another step and falls again. The pattern continues until he is finally able to walk and he has no explanation for any of this.

As soon as he is able, he will need to go through each and every one of his run times to isolate whatever anomaly he is experiencing. This imperfection will not be tolerated.

Notes: This is an aggressive / violent character. Antagonize at your own risk.

+
We know CLU (his boss) struck Tron/Rinzler with a disc while Tron/Rinzler was on his back on the ground, and we know that discs are pretty brutal weapons. We also know that scars manifest as pixelated holes in programs. Adding this to the fact that Rinzler never takes off his helmet, and makes a constant stuttering purring noise, I'm going to say that his face remains damaged from the blow. In particular, Rinzler will be missing the bottom right of his jaw and cheek. Instead of a gorey mess though, the scars will be jagged rows of broken pixels and a black void where his code is broken.

Application

Character Info
Character Name: Rinzler
Character’s Age: in human years: about 32 [age his program was when Tron was first coded]
Fandom: TRON: Legacy
Timeline: After Quorra has nearly kicked him off a building and escaped, but before Rinzler sees Flynn for the first time during the jet chase scene.
Appearance: Rinzler is a lean male who wears black skintight armour, and a black opaque helmet. He prefers to keep the helmet on at all times, and it cannot be removed unless you know how to get it to fold back on itself. For a program he has very little circuitry on his armour, and while under the influence of his Rinzler code, his circuity is red. If Rinzler were to overcome that code, his circuitry would change back to white.

Because he is a program written in the 80's by a character named Alan Bradley, he shares the man's face – though Alan has physically aged since then and Rinzler/Tron has not.

Rinzler is the only character known to have the ability to wield two identity discs (frisbees of death) and he also has unique circuitry patterns – most notably 4 squares of light at the base of his throat in the shape of a 'T'.

Changes happening upon being brought to Bell Point:
Rinzler isn't an ISO (who are canonly closer to humans when compared to programs) so he won't be as easily adapted to the real world (like Quorra is, for instance). His body while looking human, will only be mostly human and if Rinzler is cut or otherwise damaged, will reveal his unnatural heritage. If he loses a part of his body (ex: hair cut) his detached pieces (ex: hair) will de-rezz. A flesh wound will manifest into broken and loosening pixels along his skin first, and then normal blood flow will follow if the wound is bad enough. Bruises will be normally discoloured but sit on top of cracks in the skin that run the damaged area, and just like all Grid programs, his pupils are hexagonal (Tron: Legacy). Because his circuitry is red, that is the colour his little cublettes of data will be. Long story short: Rinzler can still be affected by Grid technology and his disc, but he's got enough human organs that his body can process the essentials (but his internal wiring / anatomy isn't all in the right places.)

History: http://tron.wikia.com/wiki/Rinzler
Personality:

When Rinzler had his original personality, he was kind, well meaning, and fiercely loyal – though a bit too serious around the edges.

Powers/Abilities:
Rinzler used to be Tron, who was THE BEST security program around.

His judgment is superb when it comes to being where he needs to be, whether it be while doing back flips in the air to avoid and opponent's disc, or knowing where to position his lighcycle in order to most effectively accomplish his tasks.

Limitations: As part of his uniform, he has two light-sticks that can both turn into either a lightcycle or a lightjet.

Writing Samples
Third Person Sample:

Rinzler finally pulls himself out of the sea and collapses onto his arms.

This imperfection will not be tolerated.

First Person Sample:

[The video turns on, revealing a man in a reflective black mask.

So he waits and lets his presence be known. After a while he reaches over and cuts the feed.]
