Google spreadsheets suck.

In fact, spreadsheets suck, period. The only reason Lotus became a contender in the computer market is because they automated what so truly sucked doing, by hand. Then Microsoft took it over, as they do with everything computer-related, and made them suck, all over again, as they do with everything computer-related. Now Google has jumped in for the money, all the while ignoring the fact that spreadsheets suck.

In the meantime, databases languish. Databases, which also sucked to do by hand, and which are so wonderfully done by computers, are completely neglected because they're not yet in the computer system.

Given a 9% U.S. unemployment rate, I think it would be a good idea to put people to work keying this data in. And if the insanely rich "capitalists" are too tight-fisted to pay people $9 an hour to do it, the government should. Call it the capitalists' punishment for being so goddamned cheap.

I have to say I'm an unbridled Socialist nowadays. Capitalism, like Communism, is wonderful in theory, but sucks in practice. And ever since the end of the Cold War, Capitalism has more or less taken over the world. Well look at the shape the world is in now. Look at the unrest in the Middle East, for example, it's not religious, it's completely economic. There's your Archduke Ferdinand, 100 years later. There's your canary in the mine showing that capitalism is, economically, completely unworkable on a global scale.

And "Myanmar?" I will be god damned if I call that place anything but Burma. I will not adopt the bullshit name given to it by a bunch of lunatic militaristic sadists.

"Cote d'Ivoire?" Yeah that's French for "Ivory Coast." I'll say it in English.

I don't tell the French to give up "Etats Unis," that's their language. I don't tell the Germans to give up "Vereinigten Staaten." I'd appreciate it if they'd all keep to themselves regarding my language of American English. Even the ones who live in Peking.
