Hello all. New member, first time poster, I'm sure you know the drill!
I'm...very happy to say, you seem like the most pleasant bunch of Hellsing fans I've come across yet. I'm always afraid I'll be labeled an idiot by the fans who've been around longer. But here I am. Bearing questions, if you'll have me!
I've been debating for a few months on whether to cosplay as Alucard. My friend of many years (going as Ayame of Fruit Baskets - she is too adorable not to) has invited me to a con down in Georgia in...May, I think? Momocon? Anyone heard of it? I'm a little nervous, as I've never been to a con of any size.
....Anyway, I digress. :|
I saw a lovely post here about a member who was going to their first convention, dressed as Alucard.
swordman_hinote, I think? They asked a lot of good questions, and got a TON of good answers. What I want to ask you guys, is:
1. I'm looking at mooncostumes.com for at least the coat. From what I can see, it's a supernice duster, love the color, etc. But...no pictures of the hat. This worries me. There are so many ways that hat can go wrong.
Anyone ever ordered from them, have any suggestions? I'm awful at sewing, otherwise I'd brave a coat pattern myself.
2. Boots. I want to add a little height to me, even though I'm a decent size already (5'6''). Would Stomp boots look tacky? Should I go for a little heel?
And ONE MORE QUESTION, for you veteran con-goers/cosplayers:
Would you rather someone stuck to character, or goofed off? I ask, because I love to dress up and have fun. It makes me ridiculously giddy, and I don't want to be labeled as 'Psycho Alucard'. I want to hug people and crack lewd 'stirring in my loins' jokes and generally have fun. That's what it's about, right?
