Brandon Nimmo: Breaking News

Nimmo was removed from Wednesday's game against the Yankees in the bottom of the fifth inning due to right hamstring tightness, Kennedi Landry of MLB.com reports. He went 1-for-2 with a walk prior to his exit. After reaching base on an infield single, Nimmo appeared to tweak his leg while advancing to third base on a fielder's choice later on in the inning. Nimmo met briefly with a team trainer before the Rangers summoned Sam Haggerty for the bench to pinch run for him. The Rangers will presumably send Nimmo in for further testing, but even if his tight hamstring isn't significant enough to send him to the injured list, the veteran outfielder may not be ready to rejoin the lineup for Friday's series opener in Detroit.

Nimmo went 1-for-4 with a solo home run and a walk in Friday's 5-0 win over the Mariners. He took the third pitch of the game out to right field, and that was ultimately all the run support Jacob deGrom would need. Nimmo's bat has cooled down a little bit this week -- he's 3-for-20 (.150) with two RBI and seven strikeouts over his last five games. The drop in hitting was to be expected after the outfielder's hot start, which has helped him stay at a .313 batting average with a .934 OPS, four homers, 11 RBI, 13 runs scored and one stolen base over 20 contests.

Nimmo went 2-for-5 with two RBI in Sunday's win over the Dodgers. Nimmo followed up Saturday's two-homer performance with another multi-RBI effort in Sunday's win. In his first season with the Rangers after spending the first 10 years of his big-league career with the Mets, the 33-year-old is off to a strong start, slashing .367/.433/.600 with three homers, 10 runs and nine RBI in 15 games. Nimmo has recorded multiple hits in nine of those contests.
