Now that I have a working camera and I'm pretty sure I figured out how to use it, I started posting in photosdaily again. If anyone else wants to do it with me, I'd love to not be the only one posting there. ♥

Does anyone want to go to Fright Town sometime near Halloween?

Portland is kind of far to go to a haunted house, but I've been thinking for the past couple of years that I'd really like to go to a good, SCARY haunted house, and this one looks pretty sweet. And if we carpool and chip in for gas it shouldn't be too expensive to get down there. :)

Yay, I finally got un-lazy and unraveled the mystery of how to get pictures off of my "new" camera without purchasing an outside memory card reader. In the process I also discovered that the model comes in pink. I was disappointed.

My front yard would like you to know that fall is here.

A body of water near my house that, somehow, manages to look a lot more magical in person. I imagine it has to do with the movement that the photograph can't quite capture.

I love my fuzzy, over-exposed kitty. ♥

blockycurvature and I went to Narrow's Plaza Bowl in University Place, which happens to house my favorite arcade in the whole wide universe. We discovered this amazing advertisement while bowling. By amazing, I mean terrifying. wtf is up with the cat's neck, srsly?

Honey Spice Cake I made tonight. It looks a lot prettier than it tasted. I'm never putting nutmeg in cake again, and I even halved it (the nutmeg) instead of following the recipe. :(

And yes, that is, indeed, paint stripper in a bag in the background. On the kitchen counter. This is where my neat-freak mother, who told my my room was "filthy" because my laundry basket was getting full, prefers to keep it, so I don't move it.

Comcast to play a 250 gig per month cap on downloads.

Seems like a lot, but I imagine some of you guys use more than that, and I imagine it won't be long before 250 gigs a month is nothing. Not to say that Comcast won't change their restrictions by then, but it's just something to keep in mind. :O

George W. Bush has launched a new assault on birth control and reproductive freedom.

The Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) recently proposed regulations that could seriously undermine access to basic reproductive health services -- including birth control and abortion.

Instead of striking a careful balance between individual religious liberty and patients’ access to reproductive health care, the Bush administration has taken patients’ rights and their health care needs out of the equation.

This far-reaching proposal doesn’t need congressional approval. But, it can’t go forward without allowing for public comment. That’s where you come in.

The deadline for public comments is fast approaching -- September 20 -- and we have to generate intense opposition to these dangerous regulations.

So, who wants to recommend some good books to me?

What I like: Fantasy. Humor. Fast-pace. Female leads. Believable love elements that don't overshadow the actual plot. Magic. Music.

What I don't like: Tons of useless details. Too much emo. Too much sex.

Stuff I've already liked: Harry Potter series, The Clan of the Cave Bear, The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants series, The Discworld Series, Good Omens

In short, I'm not trusting myself to pick books out after some pretty bad choices lately. For the record, don't ever read Bedlam's Bard by Mercedes Lackey or The Soprano Sorceress by LE Modesitt. It's rare that I can't even force myself to finish a book... :(

And no I don't want to read that shitty Twilight series. kthx. :(

Saw Speed Racer with Mom today for my birthday/Mother's Day (lol my family; my birthday was in mid-April, kthx!). It was like 80% races, 15% plot (which equated to, "CAPITALISM IS BAAAAAAAAAD!") and 5% HOLY SHIT I'M ON ACID kaleidescope colors. But GOD was it pretty. Christina Ricci as Trixie was lame (I like her but she isn't Trixie, okay?) and WHY DID THEY NOT PLAY THE FUCKING THEME SONG IN THE LAST RACE?

... anyway. Back to kicking all of your asses at Mario Kart. :D
