OUR MISSION & VALUES

Rooted in Tradition.

Since 1953, Hancock has emphasized academic fundamentals while enriching and broadening students’ personal development. Our founding commitments are alive and well in our mission today.

Hancock Day School develops the whole student by instilling values, knowledge, and skills to become an independent, self-reliant, lifelong learner with strength of character to make positive contributions to our ever-changing world.

High Expectations

Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipiscing elit, sed do eiusmod tempor incididunt ut labore et dolore magna aliqua. Ut enim ad minim veniam

Every Hancock student is capable of achieving their goals. We maintain high academic and personal standards and call students to meet them every day.

Instructional Expertise

Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipiscing elit, sed do eiusmod tempor incididunt ut labore et dolore magna aliqua. Ut enim ad minim veniam

Our teachers and staff are experts in child development and instructional practice. They provide the support and structure that help students move from dependence to self-reliance.

Preparation

Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipiscing elit, sed do eiusmod tempor incididunt ut labore et dolore magna aliqua. Ut enim ad minim veniam

Our graduates succeed in high school and beyond. They leave as high achievers, fully prepared for the most competitive high schools in Savannah and the region.

Character

Values

Character isn't just taught; it is lived. Students actively engage with a core Hancock Value every month through community gatherings and service.

Community

Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipiscing elit, sed do eiusmod tempor incididunt ut labore et dolore magna aliqua. Ut enim ad minim veniam

From the morning greeting to the afternoon carpool, we foster genuine relationships between students, faculty, and parents, ensuring every child feels known and valued.

Mind your Manners

Perseverance

We believe civility matters. By practicing courtesy, respect, and kindness daily, our students learn that small acts of grace build a stronger, more cohesive community.

The Hancock Way

Personal Responsibility

We teach students to take ownership of their learning and their actions. We encourage them to become independent thinkers who can advocate for themselves.

Shared Accountability

The Hancock Way is an aspirational ethos. It means holding oneself—and one another—to the highest personal and professional standards, creating a culture of mutual respect and excellence.

OUR ACADEMIC PROGRAMS

Growing Each Day.

The Hancock academic experience is a deliberate progression. We begin by planting deep roots in fundamental skills and character, gradually expanding the scope of challenge as students mature. By eighth grade, our students possess the knowledge and confidence to fly.

OUR COMMUNITY

We are Hancock.

Our mission comes to life through our people. We are grateful to our community members for sharing their perspectives on Hancock and its impact on their lives.

My favorite thing about Hancock is the family atmosphere.

"We've always known about the excellent education children receive at Hancock, but my favorite thing about Hancock is the family atmosphere.  The teachers and faculty are very sensitive to the needs of all the students: academic, social, and emotional.  All four of my grandchildren are very happy there."

School has helped me grow a lot, both in what I’m learning and how to think.

"I’ve become more confident in subjects like math and science, and I really enjoy history because we get to understand how the world has changed over time. The teachers really care and take time to explain things when we have questions. I also like working on group projects and learning how to solve problems with others.”

The sense of connection among teachers and students is what makes this school special.

“I love the teachers I work with and the students I have the opportunity to teach. Hancock day School has such a family feel.”

The lessons these students are learning while at HDS will last a lifetime.

The education and values that were instilled in our oldest during his time at Hancock are ever present in his high school experience at Benedictine Military School.  Teachers, administration, and coaches pour their heart into our children, and the lessons these students are learning while at HDS will last a lifetime."
