Program Advisory Committee Member
John Dinsmore brings a distinguished career in military logistics, aerospace operations, and defense contracting, shaped by more than two decades of service in the United States Air Force and subsequent leadership roles in the private sector.
Raised on a farm in northwest Indiana, Mr. Dinsmore developed an early appreciation for equipment maintenance and operational reliability. He graduated from the United States Air Force Academy in 1962 and began his career as a Minuteman ICBM Combat Crew Member. He later served in the Department of Defense’s Manned Spaceflight Support Office at Patrick Air Force Base, Florida, where he contributed to the GEMINI and APOLLO spacecraft recovery efforts, planning and executing post-orbit recovery operations.
With the escalation of the Vietnam War, Mr. Dinsmore volunteered to cross-train into the aircraft and munitions maintenance field, serving in supervisory roles in Thailand for munitions and F-4 weapons release systems. His subsequent assignments with Strategic Air Command encompassed a wide range of maintenance operations, unit evaluations, and requirements planning.
His expertise led to high-level assignments at The Pentagon and U.S. European Command Headquarters, where he supported comprehensive military logistics operations. He concluded his 23.5-year Air Force career as Director of Materiel Management at the San Antonio Air Logistics Center, leading a 2,500-member organization responsible for the logistics support of major aircraft systems, engines, and ground support equipment.
Following his military retirement, Mr. Dinsmore joined Lockheed Martin, serving as the San Antonio Area Representative for the company’s field team maintenance division. In this role, he oversaw hundreds of personnel supporting Air Force, Army, and Navy organizations, managing the transition of key maintenance operations until their conclusion in 2000, when he fully retired.
