today i did the big FList cut. i went through my list and cut a few names. it is not personal and i really hated to do it. if i have removed you from my FList and you think i have made an error, please let me know. i may make some more cuts later but for now having my FList under 100 is much better.

leaving this post public for those that have been cut. i wish everyone the best and wanted to say it has been great sharing fandom times together. our paths may cross again one day.

it is tragic to read of others taking their lives but it just screamed Supernatural to me. send those boys in there...OMG can't you just see Dean as an undercover cadet? uniforms and regiment and push ups and....shutting up now. just a thought. *eg*

okay, i think i missed something or they left stuff out. i have a few questions about this eppy.

first of all, in my rewatch, the season 3 finale held up much better the second time around. watching the whole season again and not having to wait week to week for an eppy made the finale more satisfying. still not as kick ass as it could have been but still not as sucky as i thought it was the first time. we will start on S4 very soon. i can't believe S4 is over half way done. *sob* S4 has been amazing. the writers have done an awesome job of it.

back to the eppy in question. so i "get" the whole siren thing, well sort of. i am still a bit foggy on a few things.

was the Doctor a Siren? or did the actual siren place the flowers there to cause problems for Sam? i dont think she was a real siren but just a woman that took what she wanted. hehehe OTOH, it was clear from Dean's experience that sex was not a prerequisite for being under the Siren's spell. i liked that twist.

i am still confused as to what exactly the Siren feeds off of. they get their victim to kill for them b/c of the euphoria caused by the oxytocin but what exactly does that do for the Siren? it just seemed lame as no soul or essence or whatever was exchanged.

LOVE Bobby. him, i had no problem with. the ending made me sad though b/c we all know that the brothers were lying to each other again about what they said. it was their true feelings but neither wants to admit it. i dont want to see them fighting again but i know it is coming. this was just a taste of it. :(

overall, the eppy was good but i felt some pieces had been cut for time or story. perhaps i need to watch again if they mentioned the answers to my questions just in passing. i may have missed it.

ahem, it would be nice if they won but i am not that vested in it. i am only here for the commercials and TV/movie promos.

got my 3D glasses, and more to spare. wonder if they will work on avi files. *ponders this* anyway, the Monsters vs Aliens trailer looked cool. wasn't too impressed with the Sobe commercial but it was better than the one from last year with some girl singing...and the lizards doing Thriller. actually the lizards were great but the girl, not so much. ;)

Bruce's halftime show was okay. it was good to see the whole band back together. so glad they didn't toss some pop singer in there like they did a few years ago with Aerosmith and Britney.

so far my favorite commercial has been the E*Trade commercial with the two babies. and maybe the Doritos one where the guy crunched the chip and things happened. wasn't happy they made the cop into a monkey though. that just seemed wrong. will edit this post if there are any other ones worthy of mentioning.

ETA: the Bridgestone commercial with the ATV on a planet with "Jump" playing and the astronauts dancing and then they turn around and all the wheels had been stolen. bwahaha

question: did S3 DVD quality suddenly get better than the previous seasons?

i do not have this show on blu-ray but on regular DVDs. recently (as i posted earlier) we have been doing a SPN rewatch. we just started S3 and i really noticed a BIG difference in the video quality. like HUGE difference. it is so much clearer and crisper. am i seeing things? add'l info: viewing this on a widescreen HDTV but not upconverted just regular video connection from my DVD player. that said, it should not be that obvious as we have been watching the other season via the same TV and DVD setup.

Random stupidity

various dumb things i am compelled to post about:

airlines lost one of my bags. just a small duffel bag with dirty clothes, shoes and an air mattress. at least they promise to send it once they figure out where it is. (lost in Detroit and not by us. we rechecked the bags ourselves after customs. we watched them put it on the security xray machine conveyor belt. *sigh*)

our county seems to be the ONLY local county not already announcing school closures. yeah b/c waiting until 5:30am is so much better. or perhaps they think if they wait, the 5 inches of snow and 1 inch of ice we are supposed to get will miraculously go away.

the stupid cow at Debenhams forgot to take the security tags off of some bras i bought while in London last week. just WTF am i supposed to do now? *headdesk*

some good news.

Lost Weekend is going along well so far.

my bag showed up via FedEx. Yay! good thing too b/c the shoes inside are the ones i like to wear out in the snow.

ION, i am being forced to watch Supernatural. yes, it is such a hardship. ;) i am actually realizing that one cannot really get tired of this show and i keep noticing stuff i didn't see before. the boy totally identifies with Dean which is amusing and a bit scary b/c he, while lovalbe is also a hound dog and a smart ass. LOL the girl of course likes the stories and the pretty.

it is very sad to hear of the death of Kim Manners though. he really was a HUGE part of what made this show so very good. he will be missed. :(

Paris part deux

thank you all for your insight and comments. it looks like now, while very tempting to do a day trip, it really won't work as well as i had imagined. that just means that i MUST plan a proper trip for another time. *sigh* i do so love adventures but sometimes what looks good on paper just really does not translate to living it, esp. on a short trip like this one would be. arriving at 9am-ish and leaving by 7pm-ish is just not enough time.

Edited: bwahaha. nevermind. we are going anyway. why, yes, i may be silly for attempting this but an amazing offer came my way. so the trip is on. LOL

ION, it is snowing here again. this after having ice/sleet/rain for the past two days. winter is back. brrrr.

Paris

i have a question for my FList. have any of you been to Paris? if so, is it possible to do a day trip? and again, if you could, what would you recommend seeing, given that you only have one day and must leave by dinner time-ish?

i am clueless. i know Paris has the Eiffel Tower and the Louvre and a river that is pretty but going in January is probably not quite as picturesque as oh, say April or May. LOL

so, yeah they finally announce this. and i am left clueless b/c i have not seen him in one single thing. i have not looked at the wank surrounding this announcement yet b/c i am sure it is either dire or bordering on studipity.

yes, i LOVED CE. *points to post icon*. i LOVED DT even more. i am prepared to perhaps fall in love with this guy IF he can sell me on being the Doctor. IF he can emote, be emo!, and fun all at the same time. let's hope they cast a fabulous companion, when the time comes. i think bringing Donna back would be wonderful but i can wish all i want to and that will not make it so. :(

now, i am off to find some of this guy's limited body of work. will see if i can like him as an actor before he becomes TEH Doctor. *g*

Being Special

oh yes, i am special...well (cue DT as the Doctor saying "well") not exactly special but more of an elite type of special thing. LOL

i am sitting in the VIP lounge at Gatwick. flying Business class has its def. perks. i checked in and after handing over my luggage the ticket agent gave me a pass to the lounge. sweet! so after seeing the customs agent about my VAT refund (sale at Debenhams, duvet sets which i have not found anywhere in the US) i was "fast tracked" through security, sort of. the concept of getting your spare change out and not having water bottles in your hand luggage seems to be lost on many people. really, with the signage about you would think some people could get a clue.

speaking of security, i had to be the one in the line randomly picked for hand search. :P i was all...usually my bra doesn't set off the scanner alarm. the lady inspector was all, "oh, no, it wasn't that but you were randomly picked". umkay. but the funny part was when they scanned my computer rollerbag. the man was all, "you have a lot of electronics in there. what all do you have?" i was all, um, camera, mp3 player, external HD, chargers for computer, camera, mobile phone and, a mobile phone. he was amused but they didn't make me take it all out to show them. *snort* what? i would not ever put that stuff in my checked luggage. LOL

so, yeah, i am off to get some free tea and a nibble while i wait for them to finally announce my gate. all of them are listed already for the flights leaving around that time. mine, not yet. i suspect the flight is delayed coming in due to weather in the midwest. ah well. strike that. gate announced as i previewed post. still going to get the tea and nibble, i think.

Winter Pimms

yes! winter pimms. this is for quillons and anyone else who is fond of Pimms. ;)

we found a Pimm's booth at the Winterland fair in Hyde park today. yay! they were selling a Winter Pimm's gift bag that comes with tea pot, bottle of winter pimms and a tea cozy along with hand warmers. yay! of course now, i cannot fit the glass teapot into my baggage to go home. will have to get it in January i guess. we got a lovely hot cup of winter pimms after we had walked around the fair. we also ate yummy currywurst and chips. it was a german winter fair with lots of wurst, gluwein and scary santas. LOL it was a mini german village and full of contradicting visuals as it was not really quite all german but not quite english either. i was amused.

anyway, Clicky on the link. it takes you to the site. you can see the "teapot tour" link on the bottom of the page, that will show you the big orange teapot stall. there is a link to order a set for yourself or any other pimms related stuff.

i gave T all of my coupons for 2GBP off a bottle of Pimms, so yeah, i get to have more when i come back next month. yum!

RSC: Hamlet, again

just back from seeing Hamlet again. let me just preface this post with, i am really glad i got to see it at the Courtyard in Stratford. had this been my only viewing, i do not think i would have liked it for reasons i will go into below. it was not really bad but it was not as stunning as Stratford.

the bad
oh gah! that lighting sucked. like seriously S U C K E D! half the time you could not see the actor's face or they were shadowed and not in a good or dramatic way. IMO

the whole production was horribly cramped on stage. some scenes were just not good for this...it gave the feeling of "claustrophobia" with some the actors either upstaging the others or completely blocking the view.

the mirrors. distracting! did not work this time.

old theater, while a lovely old one, did not have the great layout. i shouldn't complain as we were only 8 rows back, center but at times i was thinking how, due to the cramped staging, anyone in the balconies or higher could see a thing. and the seats in general were so very uncomfortable. liek whoa! bad. so it made the 3.5 hours a bit painful.

the good

Ed Bennett did a great job. he was different in his interpretation but still quite good. for me, it seemed he didn't really hit his stride until the "to be" speech. after that he seemed to light up and really shine. he was emotional and funny and wry and all the things he should be. he was not quite as bawdy with the "country matters" scene and played things a bit more subtle.

Tom Davey was Laertes and was wonderful in the role. he had great command of the role. i also noticed he seemed to have a different chemistry with the Ophelia actress...like, oh hai! we are either dating on the side or the characters were a bit incestuous. LOL

Penny/Gertrude seemed to be a bit subdued, not as over the top this time around. either that or i just found her less annoying. ;)

Stewart was Stewart. just wonderful to watch.

the fun part for me was that the Costard guy from LLL ( i should go look up the actors names but i am lazy and the program is way *points* over there.) anyway, Costard played the new Guildenstein character, and quite differently than the one we saw in Stratford. he was much more comedic. IMO all the actors were a bit shuffled around so this may not make much sense without your program in hand. tee hee.

the only thing i liked about the cramped staging was the dumb play. how the thrones were set with Hamlet being almost in the dumb play sitting close to the edge. that worked well b/c it didn't force the audience to have to choose what part to watch. at Stratford i had to pick what i wanted to watch as the action was spread out.

the aftertalk
this was great. first it was just the ass't director, Bennett and Lucianos (can't remember his name but he played Fontenbrau at Stratford) on stage. then Polonius came out, then, Penny, lastly Stewart. Bennett got a round of applause when he came out. he seemed a bit humbled by it. bless.

there were a couple of interesting questions. one was how they all felt about being shuffled about in the roles. they talked about how really scary it was after so many months. when the announcement came that Tennant was out, everyone was, to paraphrase, omg, holy crap! LOL though Stewart thought it was great b/c it changed everything or stirred things up but in a good way. like it breathed life into it again. he didn't mean that in a bad way at all.

the funny thing was Stewart going off about all the coughing and how really distracting/bad/rude etc it was. and he is quite right. he said how the coughing could set the timing of the speeches off esp if they were done in the wrong spot. he was funny in that he said, cellphones or pagers were not an issue, that they could deal with and mostly ignore but the coughing is so random. he added that they would not tolerate that in the opera or concert hall. Penny added that most places people would wait until a scene change or interval and otherwise hold it in. LOL so yeah, it was not just me and T that were annoyed by all the coughing. Stewart said it sounded like a TB ward. *snort*

a question was asked of Penny about Gertrude and Stewart covered his ears b/c he didn't want to hear how she was feeling about the role or her thought processes on her character. it was amusing to see him practically going "lalalala not listening" while she talked.

after the talk, we did get around to the stage door to see Bennett signing stuff but it was raining and i didn't want to ruin my program. plus he was obviously trying to head out so we watched a minute or so. he was wearing a snazy hat..T says it was rakish. it looked good. i didn't take any pics as i had gotten quite a few good ones during the after talk. ;) can't upload them as i am on T's computer but i will. next week. i hope. holidays, you know. *g*

The MAC post

yes, this is the MAC post i hinted about a few days ago. RL got in the way, so now that i am way early for my flight due to the snow and icy ick! of course once i got into P'burg the roads were fine. well...until now b/c i can see out the window it is snowing now. wow! that one really got away from me. LOL!

okay, so about the MAC. long story. sort of.

while Christmas shopping, i stopped by the MAC counter at Best Buy to look over the next computer that the girl has insisted she is buying. she has decided that MAC is for her and wanted a laptop. while i was looking over the shiny computers, i checked out the MACBook Pros and noticed that they had two prices listed. being curious, i asked the clerk what was up with that b/c the pricing was over $800 off regular price.

he went looked it up, telling me it was b/c they were the older models and not the brand new version. sweet! so i tell him that i will take two of them b/c really at the price for the upgrade from the regular MACBook i figured the girl wouldn't mind.

he goes to see if they have two etc but comes back to tell me that the only one left is the display that i am looking at. of course this display carries the same warranty etc and i can buy the extended thingy too. so i snatched it up. seriously, MACBook Pro for the price of a teeny MACBook. yay! for me. bummer for the girl.

yup, i now own a MACBook Pro. it is one of the last models to have the matte screen, which i covet b/c i hate the glossy screens. my other laptop has that shiny, glossy screen and the glare is horrible. it does not matter what lighting situation you are in, you get a glare.

i am learning to use said MAC. it is a bit of a learning curve but i am getting the hang of it. LOL first thing that drove me nuts is that there is NO APPLE key. in the book, with pictures, there is an apple. i am familiar with having an apple key from using tatiana_baa's computer but noooooo, there wasn't one. i finally figured out it is the squiggly cloverleaf thingy yeah, i am smart like that.

love the keyboard. it is so quite and easy to use. the screen is gorgeous. i have DLed the MAC versions of programs that i use all the time. YIM and VLC to be exact. i need to relearn how to do a few things but i think i will be okay. i need to get a MAC version of Photoshop soon. wonder if i can upgrade from one of the older versions to a MAC version? will have to check on that.

so yeah, i have, according to some people, finally graduated to an "adult" computer.

up next: why, yes, i am traveling again. ;)

Twilight music

yes, i have seen the movie. once. i have some thoughts on it but will save those for after i see it for the second time. what? i like to do that with some movies just to see if my opinion changes or not. ;)

what i need from you, my lovely FList is some music help. i have both the score and soundtrack. the music in this movie was fantastic, hence the acquisition of both score and soundtrack. anyway i want to arrange the music from both into one playlist, in order according to how it appeared in the movie.

yes, i know... me = geek. didn't you already know this? so yeah, if someone could give me a better listing of order so i can make my playlist better...that would be great :D

going on this listing: Killer Soundtrack there are some things missing that are on the score. i know that most fans won't notice the incidental music in each scene but i do b/c i am geeky like that. LOL

also, RPatz can sing and is pretty too? who knew? FWIW i like his voice if that is in fact him. very earthy and sexy. reminds me a bit of Robert Downey Jr but more sultry or something. yes, i have strange likes and stuff. ;) sometimes music takes me by surprise and then before i know i am obsessed. LOL

no Supernatural for me this week? WTF?

i was just trying to wind down from my recent trip back from the city house. see previous rant about why i was in the city...

anyway, i was checking out the TV listings and planning my "happy" TV viewing schedule to take my mind off of RL etc. and what do i find? i do NOT get the second part of the awesome Supernatural this Thursday on my TV. huh? srsly? that is some kind of sick joke, right? no, joke, they are listed to show a frakking football game over Smallville and SPN. JUST WHY?

i want, make that, NEED my Supernatural fix. i am NOT HAPPY. at. all. gah! i have a contingency plan but that means i cannot *squee* about it in a timely fashion meaning it will be at least an hour after it airs and will have to avoid LJ etc. grrr. just grrr. do not mess with the Supernatural fangirl. *nods*

Dear SPN camera people/director of photography,

Please stop with the handle held, constantly moving camera work while you are filming upclose and intense scenes between the Winchester boys. I get that you are trying to make it seems as though I am "in the scene" however, it does nothing more than give me a headache and sick to my stomach.

I cannot watch these awesome scenes as I must turn my eyes away and only listen. This is not how I want to watch the Winchester boys or your show. Also note that when I am staring intently at people, I am not randomly moving my head up and down and side to side. Just stop this nonsense now. Kthxbi

About the eppy: LOVED the beginning, camera work aside. Sam and Dean finally talk. awesomeness. great job on both actors part in this dialogue. i need to rewatch the eppy as i missed a good bit in the middle for RL reasons. ugh!

not sure i really liked the ending or not. will have to see how i feel about the rewatch.

cannot wait for next week's eppy. i LOVE when they do different stuff and this "Halloween" eppy of sorts should be fun, or scary. hard to tell from the previews. LOL

i got to Tallahassee. yay! last plane was the smallest thing ever and i had to sit next to a portly man. *sigh* they do not seem to be capable of regarding personal bubbles or have the capacity to make themselves "smaller". at least i was on the aisle.

finally got to watch the rest of Chuck premiere. so very funny and good. i LOVE Chuck. i think Chuck is my new geeky TV boyfriend. ;)

my mom does not have cable and barely has internet...so i am at the Public library for a few to try to catch up and acquire a few things to tide me over until i can view REAL TV again.

needless to say, she does NOT have the CW network. i was fit to be tied last night. you can ask quillons about my texting and sheer horror at this discovery and the impending LACK of new Supernatural last night. gah!

so to get over this lack...i made a Castiel icon. *points* he is pretty. can't wait to see where his character goes and what happens with the story. i have read some nice articles about this actor. i am impressed. i am also very impressed that the SPN fandom has totally embraced him. i just hope that Kripke can figure out a way to keep him around LONGER. or have him come back occasionally just to make all the fangirl hearts skip a beat. *g*

off to see if the CW has SPN up online yet. and then outtie to see some stuff around here and see how long i can survive without REAL internet. what? i don't have a problem. LOL
