It's been a week since the concert and I'm still in disbelief. Amazing seats, amazing beats.

Although the majority of my polish isn't this brand, I think my favorite has to be China Glaze. I've really loved their collections lately, and each color I own from them is unique and has fantastic application/wear.

Thank you everyone for making me feel special today - and the past week! ♥ I got so many letters, texts, presents and love from you all. I'm so lucky to have such amazing family and friends.

I have magical fairies who send magical socks in the mail and a magical giraffe pillow and magical paid LJ time, too! You know who you are *hugs* THANKS A WINDMILLION. I can't wait to do a new layout here.

10 Day Nail Challenge: DAY SIX

I just came back from a 5-day trip to Illinois!
Unfortunately not for fun, but for training D:

I was actually asked to go teach the first-years - yes, that sounds like something HP-like, but alas it was not remotely as magical. Have to admit that it felt like I was a high school teacher, but some of the new kids were so cute and eager to learn. Maybe after a few more years I could switch to become some sort of ~professor~ ~~of the dark arts~~

It was snowing a bit, and very very cold. The kids (I shouldn't call them that, should I? XD) gave each of the instructors a signed thank you card - tooooo precious, I'm totally hanging it in my cube ♥ I don't remember being that nice to my first year teachers, lol.

OH I ALSO SAW GIANT WILD TURKEYS.

TURKEYS.
The flight back to SF was uber turbulent, and it's really rainy. Finally! Winter has been dry so far, glad to see the change in weather.

Anywho, I'm happy to be home and back to my normal schedule now!

I actually hated nail polish a few years back! I only started liking it when I wanted to stop my horrendous nail-biting habit.

I do remember that my sister and I used to paint our nails with the kind that peeled off??? I mean, back in the day that was amaaazing, but if polish peeled off my nails now I would be so angry, lol. It only came in pink, and I think that's why I didn't really care for polish - growing up, it was mostly pink, reds, and nudes. Nowadays there's polish in every color of the rainbow, sometimes all at once! I love it.

And ironically, I'm trying to grow my collection of reds XD

I'll interpret this as to collection owned - or, in my case, partially owned! I have to say that I absolutely love Anchors Away, the Spring 2011 collection by China Glaze:

1) it's nautical-themed, so the names are fab. and I love me stripes and sailors ♥
2) all the colors are gorgeous, and nothing like what I already have.

This is actually the one polish collection I own the most of. Circular from bottom left up, I have: Hey Sailor, Ahoy!, First Mate, Lighthouse, White Cap, Pelican Gray, Sea Spray, Below Deck, and Sunset Sail. I haven't used them all in full yet, but none have let me down so far. A definite recommend!!

Happy 2012!

Christmas and New Year's went by in a blur, still hasn't dawned on me that 2011 has come and gone. Have to say it wasn't the best of years, so here's hoping that 2012 is a lot nicer.

I can't possibly narrow it down! Judging by which colors I tend to lean to, I'd day I like greys/silvers, certain reds, blue/purples, teal and mint.

Red is a classic but I haven't liked it until recently - finding one that doesn't clash with my skintone is so hard! As for colors I don't like, me and yellows and kelly greens don't get along :(

Went shopping downtown today and didn't do too much damage! I think my friend and I were both shopped-out after the last week of both pre- and post-Christmas shopping.

Being the accountant I am (ha!) I have an Excel spreadsheet I use to track all of the polishes I own. It's kind of scary.

I didn't realize I buy most of my polishes from Walgreens! I currently have a little over 50 from this one store, mostly Sinful Colors and Wet N Wild polishes, not to mention I inherited a good handful of Sally Hansen and Revlon bottles from my mom and other family. Who said drugstore brand polishes aren't as good as high end ones?

Anyone want to take a guess at how many polishes I have in total? (Answer will be revealed on Day 10!)

Happy Post-Christmas, everybody! How were your holidays? I'm excited because I'm taking the next two weeks off from work \o/ Sleeping in is never overrated.

I went to Target yesterday and it was ridic. I only ended up with wrapping paper (eeee-so-cute-can't-wait-until-next-christmas) because the only fake trees left were fuchsia and silver :| And all the cards were either unboxed or ugly. It was so messy!! I need new cards for next year, though. I finally finished going through my stash from '09.

ALSO this was completely nutso. NUTSO.

Currently I'm wearing a gradient of China Glaze's Sea Spray with butter LONDON's Lady Muck. I tend to buy the same shade in slightly different variations, these two being a prime example, ha.

Sea Spray is a gorgeous grey-blue polish with a nearly invisible shimmer, while Lady Muck, according to the website, is a powdery periwinkle blue "infused with pearl pigment."

Can I just say how fab. both names are? "Sea spray" is a spray of water that forms when ocean waves crash, while a "Lady Muck" is British slang for a woman who thinks she is very important and should be treated better than everyone else. (Sounds like a lot of people I know... XDDD)

Sorry for the creepy hand-picture. I always feel so awkward holding the bottle.

I have so many favorites, I can't narrow it down LOL. But, for purposes of this meme, I pick OPI's Russian Navy, which was essentially the catalyst to my polish craze. I wanted this color so badly, I bought several others thinking that they were "close enough." But no, nothing could really compare to it, so eventually I did buy the original. I got this in January 2010, so it'll soon be two years! Love it. ♥

The lighting is a bit off, but it's a dark blue-purple shimmer that looks nearly black in low lights.

When I was painting my nails with 'Ruby Diamond' - this amazing pink holo - all I wanted to do was this:

Because that's just how amazing they were.
