Well here's the tutorial I promised. It's quite simple. Learn how to get from A to B.

Other Examples:

1.) Duplicate base and set duplicate to Screen at 80%
2.) Create a new Selective Color Layer (Layer >> New Adjustment Layer >> Selective Color)

Reds:

C: -80

M: 20

Y: 100

Yellows:

C: -100

M: -10

Y: 100

Cyans:

C: 100

M: -100

Y: -100

Neutrals:

B: -15

3.) Create a new Curves layer. (Layer >> New Adjustment Layer >> Curves)

Red:

Output: 100

Input: 110

**This tutorial works best with images that have darker blue colours in them.

Changed the layout as you can see. It's nice for now, but as you can see there's some weird things with it. I'm far too lazy to change them right now, and I probably won't get around to changing them before i find a new layout that I want.

...whatever.

I think I'm gonna work on some tutorials.

Tutorial 5

Well, it's been yet another two months since I've updated, I think I\m gonna get back on the LJ tip soon, so don't worry. This time I got a new icon tutorial. :) I got ADOBE PHOTOSHOP BACK!! I had a 30 day trial before.

Anyways this is what we're looking at:

From: to:

1.) Crop your image to the desired size.

2.) Duplicate the base layer and set it to soft light at 80% opacity.

3.) Create a new selective colouring layer. Match your settings to mine:
       Reds : -30, 0 -20, -60
       Cyans : 20, 0, 50, 10
       Neutrals : 30, 10, 0, -20

4.) Duplicate base layer again and set it to Overlay at 60% opacity.

5.) Create a new raster layer and flood fill it with the colour fcf3ea. Set this layer to Color Burn at 70% opacity.

And you're done! Rember that this tutorial is more of a guidline, and all images are different so, don't be afraid to change up some of the settings.

(The second picture was slightly altered; the Overlay layer was replaced for Screen " 70%)

I can't beileve that it's been over 2 months since I've updated!! I dont have Adobe Photoshop anymore, but I still have my Corel Paint Shop Pro. So there isn't gonna be any tutorials for a while. But... I just put together some Heroes icon bases, i acknowledge that they're not the greatest quality, but I'm working on it. Anyways, I'm going to start updating more again, probably not as often as I used to, but I'll be around.

I think that I'm going to start making icon bases. I think today I'm going to post some Converse Shoes bases that are from my own photography so there's going to be some credit there. I think that I'm also going to add some of The Office bases too. Probably just a lot of TV shows and stock icons for now, oh and i just found some textures that I made months ago but I never did anything with, they'll probably be up today, I'll probably start doing them right now. So why don't I just make a to do list:

1.) Create texture packs
2.) Create Converse icon bases
3.) Create The Office icon bases

That's it for now... :) watch out for those updates.

Tutorial 4

Here's my Fourth tutorial!! I'm really proud of myself. :)
It goes a little something like this:

Made in Paint Shop Pro.
Uses Color Balance
Completely Translatable
In 3 Easy Steps.

1.) Crop your base. Do not sharpen.
2.) Create a new Hue/Saturation Layer. Set the Saturation to +44
3.) Create a New Color Balance Layer. Match your settings to mine:

Midtones: -6 / 80 / 38
Shadows: 12 / 0 / 39
Highlights: -10 / -40 / -55

4.) Create a new Raster Layer and flood fill it with #d1fa50. Set this layer to Soft Light at about 40%.

And you're done!
Remember to play around with the settings on your icon. Not all images have the same result.

Tutorial 3

Here's the tutorial that I promised ;).... Well here's what it is:

Made in Adobe Photoshop CS3
Uses Selective Coloring, Curves
Not Translatable

1.) Duplicate the base layer twice.
2.) Set the first duplicate to screen 65% opacity. Set the second to softlight at 80%. (play around with these settings according to the picture)

3.) Create a new raster layer. Fill it with cdf4ae set this layer to Color Burn 100%

4.) Create another layer and fill it with 041c49 and set it to Exclusion 100%
5.) Make yet another layer and flood fill it with bfd4ed on Color Burn 100%
6.) Create a Curves layer. Layer >> New Adjustment Layer >> Curves. Match your settings to mine:

RBG
Input: 160
Output: 200

7.) Make a new Selective Color Layer. Layer >> New Adjustment Layer >> Selective Color. Here's the settings:

REDS

C: -100
M: 70
Y: 30
B: 100

NEUTRALS

C: 0
M: 20
Y: 0
B: 10

8.) Create a new Hue/Saturation Layer. Layer >> New Adjustment Layer >> Hue/Saturation.

MASTER

Hue: 0
Saturation: 18
Lightness: 0

And your done!! Again let me remind you to play around with the settings if you're unhappy. :) </div>

Well... I just changed the layout, courtesy of Minty-Peach. I usually edit the layout.. but i'm to tired right now. I just made some new pirates of the caribbean icons, but i'm going ot make more so don't expect to see them until tomorrow. I also wrote a new tutorial today, but I'll post it today. There's a lot of things I should do before starting other things. Mights aswell just make a list right now.

Icon Tutoral 2

Well I finally had time to make a new tutorial. I find this one a lot better than the last one. This one may actually come in handy one day.

Well here's how it works:

to this:

1.) Resize and crop whatever you need for your image.

2.) Duplicate the base layer and set the duplicate to screen at 100% opacity.

3.) Create a new Selective Color layer. Match your settings to mine.

REDS

C: -100
M: 0
Y: 0
B: 50

CYANS

C: 100
M: -50
Y: 20
B: 100

BLUES

C: -100
M: -100
Y: 100
B: -20

NEUTRALS

C: 10
M: -10
Y: 1
B: -20

BLACKS

C: 100
M: 0
Y: 0
B: 100

4.) Create a new raster layer and fill it with e5e5e5 set this layer to Color Burn at 100% opacity.
And you're done!!

If your icon isn't looking too great, change around the settings this tutorial isn't law. You may need to remove the screen layer.

Musical Memory?

I got this idea off of fogg8. It goes a little something like this:

Step 1. Put your playlist on random.
Step 2. Post the first line from the first 25 songs that play, no matter how embarrassing. (You can skip songs that are instrumental.)
Step 3. Strike out the songs when someone guesses correctly.
(No Googling! That's what they call cheating, fool.)

(oh and by the way I'm using my Radioblog account that I share with my sisters cause they're too lazy to log out so not all of these songs are my favourites, oo some of them you willnever get cause they're not exacly english *grins like an idiot* but they are it's Patwaa which is just a dialect of English, pretty much it just means that a few of the songs are reggae.

11 & 5 are a cover for a song if you name the original that's fine... kind of)

Construction

Right now i'm redoing my layout. I'm on my sister's laptop right now so I can't put up the header that I want right now. But I'm coding.. O ya. Since I don't have a link page i got the code from: Minty Peach. She's a real help. So ya, everythings still accessible and everything but my layout just isn't complete. I think that once I get more used to Live Journal coding than I'll start offering codes. I'm going to put up the code for my old layout soon. Watch out for that.

I'm writing my first tutorial for this easy technique:

Just follow the instructions!

1.) Crop you image to 100x100
2.) Duplicate the base and set the duplicated image to screen at 80%
3.) Duplicate the duplicated screened image and set it to color at 100%
4.) Make a new raster layer and fill it with the color #234c7a set this layer to exclusion at 70%
5.) Make a new raster layer and fill it with #000040 set this layer to exclusion at 100%
6.) Make a new raster layer and fill it with #c0c0c0, set it to burn at 100%

I tried out this tutorial with some other icons and this is what i got:

Layout!!

YAAY! I managed to get a layout up, as you can see. It's of Mos Def. It's really bland, but I just got used to the coding and I didn't have much time to so anything. But I just started thinking right now of an old layout I made of Jimi Hendrix. It might just work. I was going to put up some icons in this entry but I just realized that I don't know how!! I'll get on that immediately! I think I also want to join a community. An icon one cause I'm really into icons. I just started thinking right now that I don't have any other pages up right now. [I should get on that too!] So really i just have s lot of work to do. Than I need to get the word of my LJ out there because nobody knows about it right now except Yara. So I should start looking around LJ and get to know people and also make some friends, because I really don't know anybody with an account. Well a lot to do, so little time.

Getting Started

I just created this account and my page looks like crap so far. As you can probably see. I'm still trying to figure out how to use Live Journal. Once I've got that down then I'll start getting up some resources. If you can help me with this stuff please do!

I'm going to have to finish some fixing up right now then I'll put up a new post later. The first thing I'll probably put up are some icons. But not now because I still don't know what the hell I'm doing. :(
