Listens: Arranged by J-War - Another Bad Accident []

First of: thanks for all the kind words and best wishes. I've relayed them to my sister and family. And they thank you all.

As you may have read in my previous entry she's back home safely, though her wounds will need time to heal. As the swelling in her face went down I've finally gotten a good look at the actual "damage". She can use both her eyes again, the swelling previously forced her to keep one eye closed. There's a pretty big wound on the right side of her face. I hope it will heal well, as my sister already was pretty insecure about her appearance. I don't think she could take a big scar on her face, let alone any residuals that may need cosmetic surgery. :(
She's gotten more mobile. As mentioned before her right leg is wrapped up in plaster, but she's found a way to get around the house by using an office chair.

It is only now that I realize that I have yet to tell you what actually happened. As far as I have understood from my sister she was driving home from school on her scooter. There's this specific road in our area where people have to cross the bicycle lane in order to get their car up their driveway. This is where things went wrong. As my sister was approaching the driver of an automobile failed to notice her, and thus hit her on the side right as she was passing in front of him. This catapulted her into the air and she landed on the side of the road.
As all parties have explained so far it was the driver's mistake, as he was supposed to have looked both ways before crossing the bicycle lane and should've let all incoming traffic pass by first. But it really was that: a mistake. As my sister can remember the driver was even more shaken up by the incident then herself, the poor man had almost started to cry. But my sister has taken it all rather well so far.

We'll be meeting up with the police and some lawyers some time next week to discuss the matter. As for now I'm just glad she's okay, and I'm particularly glad she was wearing her helmet when it happened. Lord knows what might have happened if she hadn't worn it at the time.
