Halt, security!

So yesterday I was at the department store. I was there to buy some gifts for my mum, who's celebrating her 50th birthday today by the way. And of course security had to check me. Now normally I wouldn't be too irked by it, but that feeling quickly faded away when the security-dude actually started insinuating that I had or must have stolen something.
It became especially irky when he came across my camera. It's quite an old model already, analog even. Not one of those fancy digital ones.
So he asked how long I've had it already. I had to think for a while, I've had it for so long now. So I replied, "about 2 years now." "Well," he continued, "then you must take very good care of it. It looks brand new." Of course normally one would consider this something of a compliment. It however didn't take long for me to recognize the underlying tone and what he was actually trying to say.
So then he asked me to open it. I of course told him I couldn't, as there was already a roll of film in the camera. Somehow this didn't register with him as he once again urged me to open it. I don't think he quite realized that by opening it the film would be ruined. So in a bright moment I showed him the display/counter instead. Fortunately I already had ten pictures on it, and for him this was good enough a proof that the camera was mine.
After the rest of my bag he just turned around and walked away, leaving me with a "thank you for your cooperation, hope you shop with us again, sir". Naturally I won't any time soon. <__< Oh yeah, did I mention it is my mum's birthday today? :D
