Tech-stuff: someone know how to deal with this?
Okay, so as mentioned in a previous entry a friend of my mum is having some problems getting Messenger set up.
During the initial set up the .NET-profile (containing her password) got linked to her user account in WinXP. Now every time she starts Messenger it just automatically logs in, the problem being that it doesn't ask for a password anymore. Though the password in the .NET-profile is correct, she'd like the added security of having to type the password herself every time as her user account in WinXP is "publicly" accessible (in other words: no password on that).
The logical approach would of course be to "unlink" the .NET-profile and her user account. So log in as admin, run "control userpasswords2", select the password manager and remove the entries. Only this time... that didn't work. *scratches head* One can select any profile and click as much as they want, it won't remove any of the entries. We've also tried various other user accounts with the same result: nothing.
Re-registering her .NET-profile, choosing not to link it to her user account during set up, also didn't do the trick.
So far all FAQs and help-pages on the intarweb recommend the "control userpasswords2"-method. But in this case that doesn't bring us any further.
And thus I was wondering whether anybody else might know of a possible solution. I'd be more than glad to hear. *shifts eyes* You'll get a free cookie. ;)
