06 / Goldenrod / video + action

[[this happened earlier today! sorry. orz]]

[As the feed comes on there's a lot of movement and a few whispers. You can't see much of anything other than movement, the sky, some grass, and then the movement stops at the front of the Goldenrod Pokécenter. Then the gear pans down to a crumpled body laying on the front steps. It pauses right there for a moment before moving closer, as if making sure everyone who sees this knows that the crumpled body is, in fact, Robin.]

[Suddenly the gear is tossed off to the side as there is a bit more chuckling and a few more whispers, but then there's a crunch and the feed cuts out.]

[If anyone happens to walk by the Goldenrod Pokécenter and takes a notice as the small pile on the corner of the steps, they will find Robin in poor health. After being caught snooping around the Rocket headquarters, he'd been taken in for 'questioning', from which he has suffered.]

[Now he is unconscious, and hopefully someone will come by and take him inside.]

[[[everyone is allowed to leave concerned messages on Robin's pokégear. He won't be able to get back to anyone for another few days, so I hope back-tagging is okay with everyone!]]]

ooc / christmas gifts

So Robin did in fact get presents for some of his friends, but due to the fact he is missing and will be into January, these presents will be coming late. Hope everyone likes mid-January gift-giving!

Wally West* - Of course he counts the fact he was very helpful with Steph's remaking of Wally's Kid Flash costume as part of his gift, but the real gift he was going to give Wally was getting Junior back. Of course, this was what led to Robin getting caught, but we won't go into that. So basically Robin doesn't have a present for Wally, which when this realization finally hits, will just add to the fun angst. Yay!

Stephanie Brown* - Candy Corn. No seriously, he has a giant bag of candy corn waiting for her, as well as a nice little note with a picture of him giving a big thumbs up that reads 'Robin #1 tested and approved!'

Conner Kent* - tba

Megan Morse* - tba

Artemis* - He's actually built her a couple of arrows. Nothing special, really. And he's sure the present isn't all that original, but he tried to work in a few extra details. Like one of the arrows records the distance it's shot for training purposes, another explodes half a second after impact, etc. There's only five or so of them, and they don't do any real/intense damage, but he's hoping it's something.

Eridan Ampora - tba

Gorthan - Robin actually planned this present since they first started working on his little experiments and Robin volunteered to help with the computer programming. It's a very personalized guidebook to how to work the computers and other technology in their lab, customized with Robin's hand-drawn pictures of himself approving or disapproving as well as explaining how to work various aspects of the equipment. While it may seem too casual to be of any real help, Robin was sure to explain every piece of lab equipment that involved a computer as thoroughly as he could. He knew at some point he was going to leave his undercover job, so he started this when he started working with Gorthan. It's not technically complete, since he was a little caught off guard with being caught, but it's close. He is also leaving him a copy of Mary Shelley's Frankenstein, because Gorthan's love of books was pretty easy to pick up on. And it's one of Robin's favorites - you can thank Alfred for the fact Robin has even read the book in the first place, being fourteen and all.

Midori Komaki - tba

Danny Fenton - tba

* For his immediate castmates/teammates he has decided to personalize their pokégear. His attempts at hacking the technology have proven fruitless, so far, but he has found a way to customize the display screen as well as some of the functions like text and the like. He has decided he is going to go in sometime after Christmas and customize everyone's pokégears with colors that coordinate with their superhero uniform. Depending on the levels of importance placed on 'secret identities', he will customize their layouts with their actual superhero symbols. A.k.a. since everyone basically knows Wally is Kid Flash, his will include the Flash symbol, where as Steph knows what she's doing with not letting people know she's Batgirl, so her's will only be color-coded in eggplant, yellow and black.

[To say the least, Robin is showing no sign that he just received a very interesting message, and then watched it self destruct moments later. In fact, he looks pretty relaxed, sitting up against a tree on the edge of town again. His team is currently playing around in the grass, with Bee currently trying to annoy BW to the point of a battle. Recently Robin has felt more like a camp counselor than a trainer, but for some reason he doesn't really mind.]

So it seems there's been a change of plans and I'll be heading to Goldenrod soon.

[He smiles a bit.]

Eridan, it looks like you won't have to come chase after me after all~

But yeah, just thought I'd get it out there. Let everyone know. [He gives a small wave at that before messing around with his gear and the feed goes black. He's back up in less than a second, though, but the feed is only for Wally, Conner, Megan and Artemis. He looks a lot more serious now, any sort of playfulness and fun gone from his face completely. It's all about business, now.]

We need to have a meeting. I'm at the Southeast corner of town. Get here asap.

[And then the feed cuts out.]

[As the feed comes on, everyone can see a relatively excited Robin. He's a lot better rested than he has been in ages, and almost two weeks of real food and sleeping in a regular bed has definitely helped. And Steph. Steph helped quite a bit, because not only is he no longer training alone (though he does do that for a couple of hours every day), he's also got someone to talk to about things the team doesn't need to know about.

But hey, that doesn't matter anymore, because he's not going to let himself start thinking about <strike>Bruce</strike> leaving anything like that! No, instead, he'd been training his ass off since he got in town, both his physical skills and his team, which has grown considerably. On the feed everyone can see Bats fluttering around behind him, and they can also see that Bats is no longer a Zubat, but rather a Golbat.

Robin's grinning.]

'sup, Johto? Guess who has had an asterous couple of weeks? This guy right here.

Just in case you can't tell, Bats here has evolved. Most of my team has too.

[He turns his pokégear around so the camera finds Boy Wonder (Fearow), Big Barda (Nidorina), Bumblebee (Beedrill) and Jenna (eevee) resting in a little pile at his feet. Robin's a little ways into the forest outside of Ecruteak and looks a little tired. He's been training all morning with his team, and he's finally taking a break. Then the camera moves back to his face.]

Annnddddddd this little guy hatched. [Robin reaches off to the side and pulls a Squirtle into the frame.] Orin, meet Johto. Johto, meet King Orin, otherwise known as Aquaman. He's just a baby right now, but give him time, and he will whelm every last one of you. Isn't that right, Orin? [Orin just kind of reaches for the pokégear and Robin pulls it away.]

This is also a kind of 'thanks bro' to Danny. You helped me out here, man. Props.

But yeah, if anyone is in Ecruteak and wants to battle? Hit me up, these wild pokémon are starting to make me chalant.
[So he and Artemis have been traveling for about five days now. If you wanted to be technical, it'd be six, but he's not being technical because that would also be him agreeing to the fact that they took a freaking long time to get through. That stupid, freaking Sudowoodo Crossing. This whole 'making things more difficult' aspect of Johto was really starting to annoy him. The fact he and Wally have kind of sort of been in a pseudo-fight hasn't helped either.

But the actual trip wasn't too bad. Him and Arty had some major bonding time and since they get along pretty well, it wasn't bad at all. He's just ready for a bed. And regular food. And training till he felt like dying, and then training some more. Because that's the only way he every really seems to clear his head and training Bats and BW is going frustratingly slow.

Thank the lord he finally made it to Ecruteak, though! That last day took forever. He needs to get BW to learn fly as soon as possible.]

I don't know about you, Artemis, but I am missing Megan's bioship right about now. And I swear if traveling to Cianwood is half as tressing at that was, I don't know what I'm going to do...

[That's when he sees the PokéCenter and sighs, looking down at his two pokéballs where Bats has fainted and BW is on his last leg. He'd been trying to train them as much as he could, but even they could only take so much over the past near-week.]

Whaddya say about dropping our pokémon off at the Center before we go find some food and a place to stay? I've got to call a friend who we're going to meet up with too.

[And without even waiting for an answer he's already heading inside, dropping off his two pokémon before stepping back into the larger part of the lobby, opening up his pokégear and turning on the feed.]

Alright, I made it to Ecruteak. Finally. Any recommendations for some perfectly-rated food and a place to stay?
[He's fixing the screen for a moment before grinning real wide for the camera.]

Hello, folks! Robin here. I should have done this a few days ago when I first caught him, but better late than never, right?

I'd like everyone to meet....

[And he turns the gear to face a Spearow, who is currently pecking at the ground. But he looks up when Rob turns the gear, looks at the screen and makes a dissatisfied noise before returning to what he was doing. So very sassy if he says so himself. Robin turns the screen back to him as Bats flies around in the background, as if trying to say 'I'm still here too!']

Boy Wonder. Yes, his name is Boy Wonder and yes, you can laugh now. I figured I'd go with a theme, what with Bats and all. [And let's just pretend Robin doesn't totally find himself to be unbelievably clever. Just for a moment. But the moment doesn't last long because he definitely thinks he's unbelievably clever.]

Oh, and in case you're wondering, I had to borrow Wally Jr. to catch BW. Turns out all the wild pokémon around here are a little too much for Bats here to handle. [He looks over his shoulder at Bats, who kinda shies away for a moment before returning right after Rob turns back to the camera.] We've been working on it, but there's only so much you can do...

Anyway, just thought I'd share of my dynamic duo to the rest of the world! [Troll!grin cause it's ironic and hilarious at the same time]
[The audio clicks on, though for the first few moments no one speaks. There's just rustling, the sounds of buttons being pressed, and a soft sigh.]

If I can just figure out the calibration of this....

[The voice sounds young, a little annoyed, and a few more buttons are pressed. But then there's a brief 'oh wait' and the sound of the piece of equipment being put down.]

Okay, so, I'm assuming this PDA-like-object is a Pokedex. Yes? Yes. Though it's not like the ones I know...like this audio feature. I'm not familiar with this. So I'm not sure where this is going or who will recieve this, but it's worth a try.

[There's another sigh.]

Yeah, so not whelmed right now.

Character
Name: Richard (Dick) Grayson "Robin"
Series: Young Justice
Timeline: post-"Bereft" (1x09)
Canon Resource Links: Young Justice Wiki

Personality: Robin, designation B01, thirteen years old, alternative identity: Richard Grayson. But of course, due to orders from Batman himself, he is known as Robin to everyone (except Kid Flash, but hey, everyone has an exception). Robin is Batman's sidekick, the Boy Wonder, one half of the dynamic duo, but don't make the mistake of comparing him too much to Batman, because that would be one of the last mistakes you'd ever make.

Robin is thirteen, but is also the most experienced young superhero of his kind. Through intense training with The Dark Knight and some of his own special abilities, Robin has learned do pull his own weight when fighting crime. Athletic, intelligent, and extremely strategic, he is used to going into a situation knowing what to do, adapting to the circumstances if need be, and coming out on the top of his game.

Working with Batman wasn't easy: they spent years learning each other's moves and thoughts, to the point they no longer have to guess what the other is doing. While Robin can work in a team setting, if given the independence, he is more likely to ninja himself right out of there and into the next course of action rather than set up and step-by-step plan to keep the rest of the team up to date. Most of this stems from his age - and his fear of screwing up and letting the team, Batman, and himself down. He may be the more experienced, but he's also the youngest and the smallest (two very sore points of his) of his team and he doesn't like being the weak link. If he can go off by himself and take care of everything without other's knowing what he's doing he would, because then if he screws up he has plenty of time to fix it before they find out. He will rush into a fight and is very quick on the defense, but he means well and does what he can to do just as well.

It's his immaturity, as well as playing the role as Batman's lighter half, has created a very sarcastic, self-confident, even cocky kid. Rob make fun of just about everyone, and everything, if there is material to work from. He's even been known to go into fights laughing and, as long as it's no Joker they're after, it does great to throw their enemies off-guard.

Through and through, though, Robin is a hero. He has a very intense sense of right and wrong, but unlike Batman, he lacks the complete confidence in his belief. Yes, he knows he's the good guy. And yes, he knows they're the bad guys, but he also knows sometimes you have to act like the bad guy to get the good stuff done. There's a line you don't cross, of course, but you do what you have to do. And sometimes...sometimes he questions where that line falls. That's what he has Batman for, who always knows where that line is, or his team, who help him draw the line when it needs to be.

Rob's people skills are also quite decent. If it benefits his situation, he can get along with just about anyone. And he's not exactly one to write people off from the get-go. But even then he has some serious trust issues, and very few people have reached the elite status of "trusted" in his book. Batman, of course, and Kid Flash is another, but beyond them the list grows thin.

But he enjoys life, enjoys having fun, and enjoys kicking ass. Because really, what else is there in life other than feeling the aster? Nothing. Nothing at all.

Strengths/Weaknesses:
+ : Robin is extremely strategic and analytical. He will go into a situation with Plans A through D, as well as several sub-plans within each. He prefers to be prepared for any situation, but that does not necessarily mean he can't improvise. Things just go smoother when they are according to plan, and where he's from being unprepared gets you killed.

+ : Being the sidekick has left Robin in a near-perfect physical condition. He is fast, has an extremely high endurance rate, is very agile and particularly strong for his age and size. He's a master martial artist and acrobat, as well as being very skilled in stelth, escape artistry and marksmanship. He is used to in complete control of his body and mind.

+/- : Very strong sense of morality, but does believe that ends justify means. This can cause problematic situations if Robin fails to keep friends/teammates/anyone else informed to his plan, therefore causing massive amounts of miscommunications.

- : Robin does not trust easily at all. In fact, there are very few people he trusts completely, and most of the people he only trusts partially are other superheres he works with on a semi-regular basis. He does not open up, does not let people in, and rarely, if at all, leans on others for help. Of course there are the exceptions, but those are few and far between.

- : Although in some cases it is beneficial to be tough on yourself to get things done, Robin takes that to an almost unhealthy level. If anything goes wrong, it is ninety-nine percent his fault, and he will do anything to make it better. He also will go to great lengths to prove himself in almost any situation.

Pokémon Information
Affiliation: Team Rocket Grunt.
Starter: Zubat "Bats"
Password: Taco Bell

Samples
First Person Sample: [The audio clicks on, though for the first few moments no one speaks.

Third Person Sample: Step one: assess the situation.

Robin glanced around the room quickly, domino mask darting back and forth between the four walls. It was a very...basic room, to put it simply. Four walls, one bed, small desk with a few objects situated on top. One backpack, at his feet. Back to the bed he noticed there was a note. After another quick glance around the room - no one else in the vacinity, no immediate threats - he picks up the note and reads it and...

Are you joking?

Dick had to stop. Seriously. He had to take a moment, read the note again, and then laugh. Rocket. As in Team Rocket. As in the villains of those Pokémon video games he hooked up to work on the Batcomputer after he lost the Gameboy Color Bruce gave him ages ago. Team Rocket. Oh that is brilliant, just brilliant. After setting the note back down on the pillow, Dick tried calling over the wire in his ear. He had the wire, he was still supposed to be connected to the rest of the team, but he didn't even hear static. Nothing. Silence. Totally not asterous.

After a few moments of quick thinking and checking his utility belt (which he still had on him, despite it being totally empty and worthless), he gave up. Miss Martian must be out of range because she did not answer him, and seriously. Seriously. Was he in the freaking Pokémon world? Was he seriously expected to be a member of Team Rocket? Like Jesse and James? Like Meowth? That was too much. Way too much. He walked forward to check the door, which was unlocked. Checked the room again to find nothing, not even a window. Gotta love the basic gameboy archiecture, after all. But then his eyes found themselves back on the desk, on something that looked strangely like a PDA. PokéDex, maybe? It didn't look like anything from his games or the TV show, so he doubted it was the same, but if this was the Pokéworld then everyone had a PokéDex. He decided to pocket it, it could come in handy later, even if only to hack into and use as a communication device to signal down Bats or KF or any member of his team.

As for that note...Dick looked back over to the door, then back to the note. Okay, if he was supposed to be a member of Team Rocket and wear the uniform...no. Not gonna happen. At least his civvies...who was he kidding. He wasn't going to fit into the Pokéworld wearing civvies. He needed a plan, and fast, and he was running out of options.

The backpack. He could take that, take the weird PDA thing, the...oh my god. Dick couldn't help but grin, because in his haste to figure out what the hell was going on, he totally missed the red and white ball sitting on the desk. His own Pokéball. He could take that, take the backpack (after stuffing the uniform inside because who knew when that might come in handy), and go and try to make contact with anyone who would help him. Okay, good. Plan. He had a plan of action and steps to make and holy crap he had his very own pokéball. This was going to be intense.

He picked it up, pressed the center button to watch as it grew to fit his hand. Smooth, some kind of...no. He needed to stop. He needed to stop because in his hand was a legit pokéball with his own legit pokémon and screw anyone who this wasn't the biggest day of their lives. How did they open these things again?

Throwing it onto the floor he watched as a flash of light temporarily blinded him, and when he felt the ball return to his hand he opened his eyes and saw...

A zubat.

"Kill me now."
